Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is recruiting for an Engineering Manager 2, Tool Design for the Roy/Clearfield, Utah location.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Engineering Manager 2 of Tool Design will be responsible for overall creation of model-based 2D and 3D drawings.

The successful candidate must have a solid technical level understanding of NX and CATIA and working knowledge of engineering design and release processes and tools including a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).  The candidate must also be skilled at conflict resolution and negotiation and work closely with multiple other Managers and Project Engineering organizations to provide quality products and services to our customers.

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and management to a team of tool designers working in a primarily model-based (CAD) environment using the Siemens NX and CATIA CAD tools to prepare both 2D and 3D drawings and models
  • Lead the organization in the execution of tactical objectives
  • Assure that the organization is properly staffed, trained, and certified to meet current and future program demands
  • Work closely with the Tool Engineering organization to provide excellent customer support as a shared services organization
  • Engage with functional managers and individuals to ensure escalated roadblocks are removed, requirements and resources are defined and adequate, and that delivered products are technically compliant to internal, program and industry standards
  • Integrate with Tool Engineering to ensure program commitments and on-time delivery of tooling designs are executed
  • Develop technical excellence within the organization, build and foster teamwork, and encourage close cooperation with and across functional organizations
  • Manage multiple program priorities on engineering deliverable and effectively lead the organization in meeting delivery to committed items
  • Champion company values, including safety, inclusion and diversity, standard methods, and continuous improvement
  • Drive technical excellence by upholding technical standards, identifying risks, and cultivating the development of new methods, tools, and capabilities
  • Formulate personnel development plans, track progress, and evaluate performance to ensure challenge and growth
  • Resolve conflicting needs in customer demands within and between organizations
  • Hire talented individuals to contribute to the team
  • Succession planning to support employee development or transition opportunities
  • Perform resource planning and forecasting to meet the priorities, schedules, and budgets of multiple projects and programs
  • Support new business opportunities (proposals, scope definition, BOEs, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related discipline and 8 years’ related experience or a Master’s in a STEM related discipline and 6 years’ related experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and a Special Access Program Clearance
  • 3 years’ experience in model-based design, simulation, or other related experience
  • 2 years’ experience in a leadership capacity

Preferred Qualification:

  • DoD Secret Clearance with the latest investigation within the last 5 years
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with use or administration of Siemens NX and PMI
  • Experience in design and/or analysis engineering, configuration management, and/or systems engineering

This position reports to Clearfield, UT, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Roy, UT, UT, USA.


Salary Range: $116,200 USD - $174,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
