Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designs, researches, and develops engineering specifications for metallic, non-metallic, and composite structures in all phases of the product life cycle from preliminary design to sustainment.
  • Design could include 2D and 3D model based engineering for detailed parts and assemblies.
  • Fundamental understanding of GD&T.
  • Design will be performed utilizing software packages such as NX, TeamCenter, and Fibersim.
  • Excellent communication and people skills required to work with key stakeholders within other engineering disciplines, including but not limited to system engineering and structural analysis, for capturing all engineering requirements needed for the design and to achieve program objectives in a timely manner.
  • Critical thinking and personal organizational skills required to capture and complete a design that meets all engineering requirements.
  • Additional work responsibilities may include task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

Basic Qualifications 

Engineer Structural: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of related Mechanical, Structural, or Design Engineering experience with a bachelor's degree; 0 years of experience with a related Master's degree
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance

Principal Engineer Structural: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of related Mechanical, Structural, or Design Engineering experience with a bachelor's degree; 2 years of experience with a related Master's degree
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher
  • 2+ years of structural design experience
  • 2+ years GD&T experience
  • 2+ years NX, TeamCenter and Fibersim experience
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Hard working, motivated, and independent worker

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
