Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Design Engineer to join the Infrastructure and Deployment Team. This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will support Civil/Structural Design on the Infrastructure and Deployment team (IDT). This role will support the design, modeling, and integration efforts for the Sentinel Launch Facilities, Launch Centers, or Test Facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•Responsible for overseeing and coordinating civil/structural systems design for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.

•Subject matter expert supporting the design of high complexity civil/structural systems, including structural steel design drawings, concrete forming and reinforcing design drawings.

•Review structural design/selection/engineering for modularized fabrication.

•Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.

•Participate in project design/model reviews.

•Review vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.

•Supports the delivery of Civil/Structural facility design Technical Data Packages, Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts

•Ensures design product quality by reviewing civil/structural designs and validating that current standards are applied

•Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues

•Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.

•Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.

•Developing and maturing Civil/Structural facility designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

•Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of experience; 7 years with Master’s Degree; 4 years with PhD

•Minimum of 6 years of experience leading Civil Engineering design efforts on MILCON, major infrastructure/building projects, or Aerospace and Defense programs.

•Experience developing engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.

•Experience working with American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Building Code (IBC) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) codes and standards understanding construction materials and construction details and techniques.

• At least 4 years experience with Finite Element Analysis and Modeling (ANSYS, GTStrudl, ABAQUS, STAAD)

•Experience with Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applications, and be able to use the Internet as an information gathering and communications tool

•US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

•Professional Engineering License

•Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction

•Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts

•Proficiency with Revit, Siemens NX and Teamcenter

•Current DoD Secret clearance granted or re-investigated within last 6 years

Salary Range: $98,700 USD - $148,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
