Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is seeking for a Design Engineering Manager 2 on the Infrastructure and Deployment team.  This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force.  This position will be located in Roy, UT.

This role will provide technical leadership and program management of the interface design efforts across the C&L segment for the Sentinel program.  This includes management of multiple control accounts and program execution leadership of a diverse team of engineers. The Design Engineering Manager 2 will be responsible for ensuring delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements, to achieve a fielded weapon system to meet operational needs.

What you will get to do:

• Lead and direct a multidisciplinary team of experienced Designers, Design Engineers, and Systems Engineers responsible for developing and maintaining interface design products and physical design hierarchies, such as Engineering Bills of Material.  
• Ownership of the delivery of Interface Design Details (IDD) and Interface Control Models (ICM), which define the design constraints for equipment and infrastructure across the C&L segment.
• Ownership of the delivery of Product Definition Packages, consisting of 2D drawings and 3D models (NX), various design analyses/assessments (structural/thermal), bill of materials and parts lists (ASME format), and requirements (DOORS).
• Maintain governance of interface design to ensure that equipment and infrastructure design teams stay within design constraints established by IDDs and ICMs.
• Manage cost and schedule performance for Interface Design control accounts as a Control Account Manager (CAM), adhering to Earned Value Management principles and processes. 
• Provide technical review authority, process audit and process enforcement across all program activities to ensure interface design product integrity.
• Support planning, budgeting staff forecasting for contract direct and indirect budgets supporting process development. 
• Remove blockers identified by team members to allow for work progression and on time deliverables.
• Act as the main POC for the USAF for cross-element interface design and integration into technical packages.
• Identify risks associated with interface design across the C&L Segment and develop and manage executable risk mitigation steps.
• This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. Supporting engineers with career development, processes, tools and training.
• The candidate will have 80% technical responsibilities as described above.  Candidate will act across multiple organizations to drive execution

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.    

  

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, Architecture, or a related STEM field with a minimum of 6 years combined engineering and/or technical Program Management experience
• 1+ years experience in DoD development programs and/or MILCON
• 1+ years experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or control account manager
• Experience acting as a Control Account Manager (CAM) or Program Manager in a formal Earned Value environment
• Active DoD Secret security clearance with the most recent investigation completed in the last 5 years.
• Candidate must be able to obtain and retain access for Special Access Programs.
• Ability to obtain and retain DoD Top Secret security clearance.

  

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts to both Government and corporate leadership
• Experience supporting Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) or other missile design and deployment programs or projects
• Program management experience on programs with values larger than $50M
• A current DoD Top Secret clearance with capability for SAP access
• Effective in customer relations, expectation management, and building coalitions with customers, government staff, and other contractors
• Subcontractor technical oversight experience, specific experience managing Engineering, Building, and Construction Firms
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
• Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA
• Experience in using TeamCenter/NX
• Experience in using Siemens Capital or other cable harness design tool suites
• Experience in interface control and/or interface design.
• Proven understanding of the Build to Package development and release processes.

Salary Range: $125,700 USD - $188,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
