Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer to join the Infrastructure and Deployment Team. This position is in Roy, UT supporting the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP). PDPs consists of 2D drawings and 3D models (NX), various design analyses/assessments (structural/thermal), bill of materials and parts lists (Siemens Capital and Xpedition), and requirements (DOORS). Candidate must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction. Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the PDP lead in designing electrical equipment, components, products, and systems.

  • Drive the design and development of the electrical portion of the System Integration owned the PDPs

  • Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed PDPs

  • Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives

  • Integrate System Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes

  • Identify gaps and holes within the design and/or requirements and provide a path froward for resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others while filling the gap/hole

  • Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications

  • Determine technical solution in accordance with product specifications and recommend actions to representatives for coordinated product solution

  • Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PDP development and release

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with Master’s Degree

Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 0 years with PhD

  • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.).

  • US citizenship with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance and Program Special Access clearance

One or more of the following qualifications:

  • 1 year of proven experience reading and interpreting technical drawings

  • 1 year experience with design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations

  • 1 year of proven knowledge of design tools including TeamCenter/NX or similar

  • Knowledge of specifications and processes as they relate to engineering model-based definition

  • 1 year of experience with cable routing within 3D model space using Siemens Capital or other cable harness design tool suites

  • 1 year of experience of product development lifecycle

  • 1 year of experience with the ASME Y14.x suite of engineering drawing standards

  • 1 year of experience in creating a PDP or PDP like product, including development and release process

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • ICBM Experience

  • Experience with systems engineering principles and processes, preferably using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities

  • Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.

  • Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner

  • Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team

  • Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success

  • Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher awarded or reviewed in the last 6 years

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
