Northrop Grumman Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) Division seeks a highly motivated Manager for our PGS Engineering Workforce, Innovation & Strategy Excellence (WISE) organization to lead our Engineering Strategy team to define and drive advancement in engineering capabilities and resources that enable PGS to exceed customer expectations for product development, quality, cost, and delivery, maximizing efficiency, optimizing, and driving engineering excellence.

Seeking a strong technical leader with an enthusiasm for tackling difficult problems, collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders, and building a vision into reality.  The Digital Engineering Manager will be a key leader in the PGS Engineering WISE team responsible for shaping Engineering Digital Solution strategies to promote adoption and operational impact for PGS programs, providing and measuring engineering resources to support efficient and impactful operations and leading a team of direct and leveraged staff that will:

  • Guide the identification, development, and operational deployment of Digital Engineering strategy and resources for PGS Engineering (such as Digital Transformation).
  • Collaborate with Sector/Enterprise campaigns, Engineering and Business Leaders, and Program Partners to evaluate business challenges and shape Continuous Improvement across our engineering processes and tool sets to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
  • Mature and implement the PGS engineering roadmap with focus on leveraging digital engineering tools into our processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
  • Shape and prepare metrics, data analytics to track activity progress and aid in business decisions and to regularly present to Division leadership
  • Evaluate and direct investments in digital engineering, tool development, process improvements, and capability maturation.
  • Engage across the organization to communicate activities, achievements, and challenges and to build and leverage stakeholder collaboration
  • Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire, and motivate staff to achieve excellence and mentor them as they develop new skills.

This position can be performed from NGC sites in Redondo Beach, CA; Azusa, CA; Aurora, CO; Colorado Springs, CO; or Baltimore, MD. Other locations and remote options will be considered on an individual basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 9+ years of engineering experience, or MS degree + 7 years; or PhD + 4 years; or 13 years equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of professional experience coaching and leading teams
  • 2+ years of direct people leadership experience
  • Candidate will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding organizational skills with an ability to stay on track across multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Proven track record as a trusted advisor and partner with business leadership, along with demonstrated project management, analytical and process orientation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in Engineering
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain DoD Top Secret and SCI clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years engineering experience
  • Experience with Lean and/or Agile methodologies
  • Experience with digital engineering tools and techniques; e.g. MBSE, DevOps, Digital Twins, Digital Threads
  • Ability to effectively interface with other Engineering and Production disciplines across the Business Unit as well as Programs
  • A strong understanding of the PGS business and programs with a broad network of experience/exposure
  • A current DoD Secret or TS/SCI

This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 4 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $160,100 USD - $264,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
