Northrop Grumman Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) Division seeks a highly motivated Digital Engineering Technical Lead for our PGS Engineering Workforce, Innovation & Strategy Excellence (WISE) organization to define and drive advancement in engineering capabilities and resources that enable PGS to exceed customer expectations for product development, quality, cost, and delivery, maximizing efficiency, optimizing, and driving engineering excellence.

Seeking a strong technical leader with an enthusiasm for tackling difficult problems, collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders, and building a vision into reality.  The Digital Engineering Technical Lead will be a key leader in the PGS Engineering WISE team, responsible for shaping Engineering Digital Solution technology.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Digital Engineering Manager in the identification, development, and operational deployment of a Digital Engineering Strategy for PGS

  • Mature and implement the PGS roadmap with focus on leveraging digital engineering tools into our processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance

  • Lead working groups consisting of Digital Engineering SMEs from all business units in sharing digital engineering strategies and identifying requirements for the digital engineering roadmap

  • Identify and oversee the scoping, staffing and execution of Digital Engineering IRADs

  • Work with programs and captures across the division to drive adoption of Digital Engineering investment work products, and gather feedback to improve future investment

  • Represent PGSD in the Space Systems Sector Digital Transformation Office (DTO), and work with DTO and DTO solution leadership to ensure investments meet the needs of PGS

  • Lead a matrixed team of PGS business function representatives that interface to the DTO to build a Division Level (Engineering & Non-Engineering) solution plan

  • Represent the PGS Engineering aspects of that team in addition to team leadership

  • Evaluate and direct investments in digital engineering, tool development, process improvements, and capability maturation.

This position can be performed from NGC sites in Redondo Beach, CA; Azusa, CA; Aurora, CO; Colorado Springs, CO; or Baltimore, MD. Other locations and remote options will be considered on an individual basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 14+ years of engineering experience, or MS degree + 12 years; or PhD + 9 years

  • 5+ years of professional experience coaching and leading teams

  • 5+ years of professional experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Modeling and Simulation (M&S)

  • 2+ years of professional experience with Agile and Dev*Ops

  • Candidate will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Outstanding organizational skills with an ability to stay on track across multiple initiatives simultaneously

  • Proven track record as a trusted advisor and partner with business leadership, along with demonstrated project management, analytical and process orientation skills

  • Demonstrated experience in Engineering and an understanding of program lifecycle with respect to Engineering (SW, Systems, I&T, Mfg/Production)

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI, but it is not needed to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading IRAD teams

  • Experience with advanced digital engineering tools and techniques to include Digital Twins, Digital Threads and Digital Design Reference Missions

  • Ability to effectively interface with other Engineering and Production disciplines across the Business Unit as well as Programs

  • A strong understanding of the PGS business and programs with a broad network of experience/exposure

  • Understanding/Experience of the Program Capture/Proposal activities

  • A current TS/SCI

This position reports to Aurora, CO, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 4 locations listed above.

Salary Range: $153,600 USD - $230,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
