Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Digital Engineer to join the Flight Systems Team as a Flight Unit Digital Board Designer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience level. 

What You’ll Get To Do:

The successful candidate will report to the Guidance Computer Unit Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and will develop digital board designs utilized in the Guidance Computer (GC) flight Unit.  The GC is a high reliability, radiation hardened flight controller for the GBSD Aerospace Vehicle (AVE).  The GBSD Guidance Computer contains digital processing, digital I/O, and analog actuator/power I/O electronics functions.  The scope of this role includes collaboration with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other electrical engineers to perform design trades and requirements flow down, to create interconnection drawings, to perform electrical analysis, to develop test plans, and ultimately to deliver working hardware that meets program requirements. The qualified candidate will be a digital design engineer who will work on digital board design and development with application in an embedded control processing function.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Relocation assistance may be available.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of engineering experience, or a Master’s Degree and 7 years’ experience, or a PhD and 4 years’ experience

Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of engineering experience, or a Master’s Degree and 3 years’ experience, or a PhD and 0 years’ experience

• Experience designing board level digital hardware including architecture development, conceptual design, detail circuit design, schematics development, worst case analysis and board Integration & Test

• Experience developing Digital Electronics for Radiation Hardened Missile or Space applications

• Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) across all levels of the organization

• US citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Digital or Mixed signal unit, slice, board, and/or ASIC/FPGA design and development experience

• A current DoD Secret clearance or higher, granted or investigated within last 6 years

Salary Range: $96,400 USD - $144,600 USD

Salary Range 2: $119,400 USD - $179,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
