Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for a Sentinel Staff Electrical Engineer (lead) to be part of our Integration (Build) and Test team in Launch Vehicles at our Chandler, AZ facility.

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will serve as a lead Integration and Test Staff Electrical Engineer for the Sentinel Program, requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.  Daily responsibilities will require direct contact with launch vehicle flight hardware and electrical ground support equipment.  The candidate will help develop the concept of operation for all integration and test activities associated with preparation and execution of flight test operations at the launch range. Specific duties may include:

  • Establish Space Systems system tools to be used for program execution
  • Leading hands-on electrical testing at a systems level
  • Developing and maintaining procedures for the assembly and test of launch vehicle systems
  • Incorporating hardware design changes
  • Documenting & dispositioning hardware discrepancies, pursuing root cause & corrective actions
  • Coordinating and/or leading integration activities
  • Planning and scheduling day to day tasks
  • Leading, training, tasking other engineers and team members

Basic Qualifications 

  • Minimum Education / Experience: 14 Years with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or qualifying discipline; 12 Years with Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or qualifying discipline, or 9 Years with PhD of Science in Electrical Engineering or qualifying discipline.
  • Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. Passport for travel
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance, which generally requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to large customer community
  • Ability to solve problems, support troubleshooting efforts, drive tasks to completion
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and lead small projects or teams
  • Ability to travel: Travel expectation 25%
  • Knowledge and experience with CAD software
  • Experience working with design, integration, or testing of launch vehicles
  • Basic electrical testing and diagnostic experience
  • Experience leading/training other engineers and/or team members

Preferred Qualifications 

A DoD/active clearance is welcomed and preferred

  • Experience performing formal requirements decomposition and/or verification
  • Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering background
  • Experience with aerospace standards/guidelines
  • Experience with external customer interfacing including meetings, presentations & negotiations
  • Experience working with operational hazards such as propulsive devices, pressurized systems, overhead lifting, and high voltage systems
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with CAD software
  • Extensive experience working with design, integration, or testing of launch vehicles
  • Extensive electrical testing and diagnostic experience
  • Extensive experience leading/training other engineers and/or team members

Salary Range: $139,000 USD - $208,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
