SSSD has an opening for a Principal Electronics Test Engineer to support the Ground Product Engineering & Advance Programs Department, based in Manhattan Beach, CA.  This position is for the COAST Program HW&L Depot group.

The responsibilities include maintenance of satellite system ground based Digital & RF hardware and computer-based systems, site anomaly support, procurement, logistics, material tracking and disposition.

The ideal candidate is a passionate test engineer interested in operation and maintenance of Digital and RF hardware focused on ground-based applications.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with:

  • Hands on hardware integration and test and is comfortable with fault isolation and repair.

  • Being hands on in the lab environment with hardware such as commercial test equipment.

  • Custom electronics (simple to very complex).

  • PCBs, Units, Test Sets, subsystems, and systems.

This person will be working on COAST Program which is an Operational and Maintenance program that supports domestic and international ground facilities. This position has opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally after obtaining security clearance.

    This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years of engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or another STEM degree from an accredited institution; or 3 years of experience with a STEM Master's degree; or a STEM PhD. degree

  • 2+ years of electronic engineering test experience in an engineering environment

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:

  • Dept. of Defense interim Top-Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years

  • OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.

  • OR Dept. of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Working with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and signal generators, etc.

  • Working in a hardware manufacturing environment

  • Supporting flight hardware troubleshooting, and reviewing test data

  • Familiar with different product types (i.e., Digital, RF, Power, Optics, etc.)

This position reports to Manhattan Beach, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Redondo Beach, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
