Join the Space revolution and make the impossible, possible.SSSD has an opening for an Associate Electromechanical Engineer / Electromechanical Engineer to support the Module Assembly and Test (MA&T) Department. This position will be located at our Space Park facility located in Manhattan Beach, CA.The selected candidate will advance automation, and apply electrical & mechanical principles, to produce spaceflight and avionics microelectronic assemblies. Candidate must be comfortable working hands-on in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with managers, engineers, and technicians.  Candidate will be responsible for production of hardware with epoxy and/or solder mounted components, wire and/or ribbon bonds for electrical connectivity, laser or seam sealed for package hermiticity, and mechanical stress tests to name a few. The selected candidate must thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.Responsibilities:
  • Supports and participates in the design, modification, fabrication, and mechanical/electrical testing of prototype and production microelectronic assemblies in a class 100,000 cleanroom. 
  • Automates certain parts, or designs & implements entirely new automated technologies, on production equipment or systems to reduce variability from human dependencies.
  • Establishes and reviews build plans that ensure all flow down requirements are met.
  •  Identifies, designs and co-ordinates the fabrication and fit check of all tooling necessary to support production.
  • Performs Material Review functions on discrepant product, performs root cause analysis on defects, and coordinates the implementation of cost effect corrective actions.
  • Methodically resolves technical issues.
  • Develops, improves, qualifies production processes.
  • Creates and maintains process procedures.
  • Continuously improves production yields by performing DOE’s, implementing & tracking Statistical Process Controls, or using Pareto charts and applicable metrics.
1st and 2nd shift positions available. 2nd shifts start time is after 12pm. This requisition may be filled at either a level 1 or a level 2, depending on the candidate’s experience as laid out in the basic qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment.Basic Qualifications: A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
  • Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution
  • Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree (or list specific majors)
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile). 
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing and inspection and/or electronic assembly
  • Knowledge of RF fundamentals 
Pay Range:Bachelor's: $70,200 - $105,400Master's: $ 85,000 - $127,400campusjobs


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
