Northrop Grumman is looking for a Manager Electronics Engineering 3 for the Digital Products Department - an organization of 100+ engineers that develop digital hardware units for space applications, including modulators, demodulators, command and telemetry units and digital communication products. The successful candidate should possess people, processes and project management skills and understand all phases of unit development, including but not limited to proposal and costing, requirements derivation, design, verification, and testing, as well as the tools that enable success during the unit development lifecycle.

  • Program management duties for planning, risk management, performance/schedule tracking, and technical quality management for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements on a large system development-type contract

  • Develops and administers budgets and standards of performance

  • Perform as Cost Account Manager (CAM) to fulfill Earned Value Management System (EVMS) duties

  • Responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational group

  • Advisor to lower-level managers and exempt employees

  • Helps meet established schedules or resolve technical or operational problems

  • Exerts influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization

  • Subcontract technical manager for the solid state recorder

  • Experience with leading a group for design reviews (PDR, CDR) and supporting reviews/preparation for the design reviews with the customer

  • Technical duties working on Printed Wiring Board (PWB) issues and supporting integration activities

  • Contract management and responsible for proposal efforts

  • Interface with internal/external customers

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or other Engineering field from an accredited institution

  • 7 years of digital unit design and/or digital slice design experience

  • Proven technical, program or functional leadership experience

  • Ability to manage engineers in a process driven environment

  • Experience collaborating with employees within a department and across functional areas

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:

Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years OR Dept of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s or PhD Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Recognition within the broader organization as a Subject Matter Expert, Responsible Design Engineer or Integrated Product Team Lead for Digital Electronics for Space Systems

  • Familiarity with NGSS technical & administrative processes and procedures is highly desired

  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven leadership abilities

  • Demonstrations of excellent communications skills which include the ability to verbally articulate and to make effective presentations, and to prepare clear and concise written reports are desired

  • Experienced in product development, proposal support, managing capital and indirect budgets

  • An ability to manage and balance competing interests/priorities

Salary Range: $176,100 USD - $264,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
