Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Electronics Engineer/Principal Electronics Engineer (Operations & Sustainment) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be primarily located in Palmdale, CA. This position is open to being supported out of Palmdale and Rancho Bernardo. If located out of Rancho Bernardo, up to 50% travel may be required.

**This position may be filled by either at the Electronics Engineer level OR at the Principal Electronics Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.**

 
The ideal candidate will have a background in one or more of the following: Complex electromagnetics, radar and electronic warfare modes, phased array theory, receiver architecture, advanced signal processing techniques, sensor modeling, and sensor performance validation.

The Operations & Sustainment Engineer will be a high-energy individual who will be expected to keep track of deployed assets, collect asset-related status reports from FOLs and MOBs to support statistical and anomaly reporting, coordinate with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team as the Point of Contact (POC) for the Integrated Product Team (IPT), participate in Material Improvement Process Review Board meetings and provide feedback and responses to action items as necessary, monitor Line Replaceable Units (LRU) returned from the field and coordinate their repair at the supplier facility, and communicate successfully across engineering, operations, and logistics teams in order to implement requirements.
 
The successful candidate will coordinate with customers and vendors to ensure that required assets are in place and functional in order to effectively support operations and that any failed assets are returned to the supplier in a timely manner for repair.  They must also be capable of responding to the customer with guidance related to operation and maintenance of assets.
 
Meeting support responsibilities include readiness reviews, site specific training, test briefs and debriefs, security and coordination with test directors.  Post-test support responsibilities include review, analysis and defect investigation of test logs, and validation of test data files, hardware and software troubleshooting on the platform and defect duplication and analysis in a lab.  Pre-test support responsibilities include support and checkout of the system, including but not limited to test planning activities to ensure that test objectives are achieved and results remain within operational specifications of the subsystem.
 
Responsibilities will also include coordination of anomalies with NG engineering and supplier Subject Matter Experts. This includes review of service bulletins, training for new software upgrades, review of new NG and supplier generated Discrepancy Reports and tracking existing Discrepancy Reports, as new analyses become available.
 
The successful candidate will also support operator training, QA activities, DMS issues and obsolescence management, logistics, return material authorization activities, logging, review and reporting of system maintenance metrics, analysis and confirmation of mean time between failures, support for correction of defects and flight test justification activities and lab sustainment.
 
Basic Qualifications (Electronics Engineer):  T02

  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field and 2 or more years of related engineering work experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field and 0 or more years of related engineering work experience.

  • Must have experience working with payload systems.

  • Active in-scope Secret clearance or DoE equivalent is required with ability to gain access to special programs (Active Secret or DoE equivalent is required to be considered for this role).

Basic Qualifications (Principal Electronics Engineer): T03

  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field and 5 or more years of related engineering work experience; OR Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field and 3 or more years of related engineering work experience; OR PhD and 0 or more years of related engineering work experience.

  • Must have experience working with payload systems.

  • Active in-scope Secret clearance is required with ability to gain access to special programs (Active Secret or DoE equivalent is required to be considered for this role).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MS in Engineering.

  • Practical experience working with payload systems

  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and make decisions that impact the organization’s credibility, operations and services. 

  • Documented ability to interpret numerical data for reporting purposes and prepare and analyze data and figures.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment.

  • Supplier Management Experience

  • Top Secret Clearance

  • Current Special Program access.

This position reports to Palmdale, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from San Diego, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
