Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Antenna RF Engineer 4 to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Redondo Beach, CA.

Responsibilities not limited to demonstrating extensive technical expertise applied to antennas and RF products and demonstrates full knowledge of other related disciplines. Effective communication and demonstrated ability to clearly present technical approaches and findings regarding the state of the art in RF Antenna technology domains is essential to the role.

Responsibilities will span application of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in Antenna technologies. Contributions to the development of new principles and concepts, collaboration with technical leadership on Antenna system requirements generation and associated flow down, Antenna components and subsystem design/analysis, and Antenna system performance verification including range testing. Primary scope will involve development of mission-enabling Antenna products for space.

Essential Functions:

  • Antenna RF Design, Analysis, and/or Measurement work is performed under consultant level direction

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of Antenna RF Design, Analysis, and or Measurement Assignment

  • Completed work on antenna RF products is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for program and / or functional homeroom desired results on Long Range Strategic Plan

  • Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role on Antenna RF Products and related project scope

  • Demonstrate knowledge in more than one area in electromagnetic theory, electromagnetic analysis, and performance budgeting/allocation in RF systems or subsystems

  • Incorporation of lessons learned and experiences in design/analysis, innovative thinking, and familiarity with the state-of-the-art

  • Communication & information flow to project team and functional homeroom management, as well as fulfilling reporting requirements to customer & program management

  • Identifying and realizing opportunities to reduce cost and improve processes

  • Represents the organization as the RF Antenna prime technical contact on contracts and projects

  • Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 9 years of experience with designing/analyzing/ radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave Antenna systems OR 7 years of experience with a Master of Science degree OR 4 years of experience with a PhD.

  • Demonstrated expertise using CST Microwave Studio, HFSS, GRASP, FEKO, or other computational electromagnetics software tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Electromagnetics from an accredited institution and at least 10 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment producing flight hardware.

  • Experience with Antenna RF system architecture development, Antenna RF system synthesis based on requirements flowdown, Antenna RF system team leadership in design/analysis, and Antenna RF Payload level system performance verification including flight technology demonstrators, and programs of record.

  • Technical breadth across the following areas: highly-integrated Antenna systems, phased arrays, analog beamforming, hybrid beamforming, digital beamforming, Reflector Antennas, Reflect-arrays, Small Aperture Fixed Beam Antennas, Frequency-Independent Antennas, Antenna/RF system cascade performance analysis, linear and non-linear RF analysis, digital electronics (ASICs/FPGAs), power electronics, CAD modeling, statistics, systems engineering, and measurement data post-processing/reduction.

Salary Range: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
