Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Communications Engineer/Principal Communications Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

The Communications Electronics Engineer/Principal Electronics Engineer must have experience with installation, integration and troubleshooting of aviation related communications systems, component sub-systems, RF Line of Sight, SATCOM and tactical networks. 

Essential Functions:

  • System integration, test development and execution of various types of complex communications systems
  • Create and develop documentation for system requirements and interfaces, including system engineering drawings and diagrams 
  • Troubleshoot systems to resolve complex issues, interact and coordinate with responsible communications engineers responsible for sustaining communication sub-systems
  • Serve as an interface between the O&T organization and the engineers
  • Ensure communication system performance meets specified levels
  • Proactively maintain overall system performance of a deployed communication system
  • Perform troubleshooting, document issues and coordinate field replacements/upgrades of communications systems
  • Contribute to improvement of processes, design and future sustainment efforts 
  • Actively participate in Program Risk and Opportunity Management
  • Must be a self-directed technical performer with strong communication skills, demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary technical trades, and ability to develop & execute to a strategy

Basic Qualifications (Communications Electroncis Engineer):

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline with 2 or more years of related experience OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 or more years of related experience
  • Practical working experience with various types of RF systems
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance (within 5 year scope)
  • Must possess working knowledge in Systems Engineering       

Basic Qualifications (Principal Communications Electronics Engineer):

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline with 5 or more years of related experience OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 or more years of related experience OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 or more years of related experience 
  • Practical working experience with various types of RF systems
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance (within 5 year scope)
  • Must possess working knowledge in Systems Engineering             

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • Experience with the integration and test of aviation related communications systems or component sub-systems
  • Working knowledge of communication engineering theory
  • Ability to obtain program access
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance with Active SSBI required with investigation date in last 5 years

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
