We are looking for you to join our team as an Electrical Engineering Manager based out of San Diego, CA. As an Electrical Engineering Manager at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll Get to Do:

The electrical engineering manager will lead a team of approximately 10-15 engineers working within the San Diego Communication Systems OU. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. Specific responsibilities  include coordinating with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary as well as working to refine the system development process and tools utilized for program excellence and design assurance. Program Execution and Engineering Excellence are our driving forces.

 

The qualified candidate shall also be a technical performer, working approximately 80% directly on programs involving CNI systems within our CNI OU, representing our Engineering and Sciences organization in the OU. Programs covered by this OU are F-35 CNI programs, F22 CNI programs, CNI production and sustainment programs.  Experience with mentoring and people management is highly desirable.

The Manager will support and be accountable for goals including:

  • Cultivate an inclusive and engaging workplace. Ensure employees’ work life balance is appropriate.

  • Workforce: maintain staff adequate to execute to program plans, as well as for strategic growth. Plan assignments and fill program needs to ensure success, but which also offer growth to the individuals performing the work.

  • Performance management: on an ongoing basis engage with staff to identify growth opportunities, deficiencies, appropriate training, etc. Execute to the Enterprise review cycle. Manage compensation and career progression

  • Create and maintain forward-looking processes which align to strategic goals.

  • Must have excellent written and communication skills and be able to work independently and within groups

  • Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters

  • Candidate must have knowledge of the engineering process, be proficient in process development as well as functional organization aspects

  • Candidate must have working knowledge of the engineering development process

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSEE or a related STEM field, 5+ years of experience, and significant direct experience in the field of electrical engineering, as well as program management

  • Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader

  • Candidate must have familiarity with the other engineering disciplines

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field, with 10 or more years of technical experience and direct management of engineers

  • Experience with mixed circuit design, OrCAD, Pspice, LTSpice, Mentor Graphics.

  • Experience with IPC, MIL-STD, and Northrop Grumman Circuit Card Design specifications.

  • Experience with detailed electrical circuit design, circuit level analysis, qualification test support, development of test procedures and reports, or production manufacturing hardware support.

  • Candidate should have hands on experience with DoD communications systems

  • Candidate should have direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership (IPT lead)

  • Current direct program duties within the CNI OU, including F-35, F-22 CNI programs

  • Familiarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilities

  • Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance

  • Knowledge of F-35 and F-22 communications systems and associated waveforms

  • DOD Secret and SAR highly preferred


Salary Range: $123,200 USD - $184,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
