We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr Principal Electromechanical Engineer based out of San Diego, CA. As a Principal / Sr Principal Electromechanical Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:

• Solve complex technical issues with limited supervision
• Mechanical design and packaging of antenna, RF, digital, infrastructure, and test hardware products, including avionics modules, racks, and interface test adapters.
• Perform thermal and structural analyses as required.
• Support electrical-mechanical tradeoffs and physical verification and qualification testing for new designs, as required.
• Mentor & lead jr. electromechanical engineers

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electromechanical Engineer:

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or closely related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years experience; OR 3 years experience with a Masters (MS) degree in STEM.
• Experience with electronics packaging design, including producibility constraints, solids modeling techniques, GD&T, corrosion control, EMI concerns, and thermal/structural analysis methods
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Capable of designing to a hardware requirements specification.
• Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design principles and testing techniques
• Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team requiring little supervision
• CLEARANCE: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or closely related STEM field with a minimum of 9 years experience; OR 7 years experience with a Masters (MS) degree in STEM.
• Experience with electronics packaging design, including producibility constraints, solids modeling techniques, GD&T, corrosion control, EMI concerns, and thermal/structural analysis methods
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Capable of designing to a hardware requirements specification.
• Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design principles and testing techniques
• Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team requiring little supervision
• CLEARANCE: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Military avionics experience
• Proficiency in the use of the SolidWorks, CATIA V5, NX, Patran/Nastran or Flotherm tools
• MSME

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
