We are looking for you to join our team as an Electronics Engineering Manager with our Mission Systems Sector, based in San Diego, CA.

The Electronics Engineering Manager will be responsible for supporting the Joint All-Domain Gateway (JAD-G) Operating Unit (OU), within the Networked Solutions (NS) Business Unit.  This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision/management of Hardware Engineering staff within the JAD-G OU, primarily supporting the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program, across the portfolio of BACN Task Orders.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Management of engineering staffing to include aligning engineering talent with program needs, monitoring staffing levels relative to current/upcoming work, interviewing and hiring engineers as needed.
  • Program planning and performance relative to cost, schedule, technical performance. Ensuring quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on system development-type contracts and/or sustainment contracts.
  • Assists with research, design, development, and testing of a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment, as well as networking and other communications equipment and systems.
  • Lead Hardware development activities within the organization.
  • Will assist the Hardware Integrated Product Team (IPT) on proposals, to include authoring and approving Basis of Estimates (BOEs), as well as Technical Volume inputs; support Control Account Manager (CAM) activities and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Support and participate in external and internal audits as required.
  • Ensure all Hardware engineering contractual requirements are being met, to include Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) and non-CDRL deliverables.
  • Involvement with the electronics lifecycle such as: specifications, trade studies, architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Maintain version control of documents, deliverables, and collaboration tools.

Basic Qualifications for Manager Electronics Engineering 2:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related STEM field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 9 years of experience; OR 7 years of experience with a Masters (MS) degree; OR 4 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Proficiency in the following: cable design, mechanical design, designing for manufacturability and assembly, mechanical analysis/simulation (static, modal & thermal), design of airborne payloads, component identification/selection, designing for SWaP-constrained environments.
  • Experience designing with 3D modeling software such as Solidworks, Creo, or Catia.
  • Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • Proficient in Windows, MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Power Point.

Preferred Qualifications for Manager Electronics Engineering 2:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in Electronics and/or Hardware Engineering.
  • Prior engineering functional management experience (executing performance appraisals, staffing allocations, design process leadership, and career goals development).
  • Prior experience as a Department of Defense (DoD) contractor.
  • Knowledge of electronics and payloads subsystems.
  • Experience in designing systems of electronic components.
  • Demonstrated experience leading medium to large complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience executing government projects on time and to budget while ensuring project output meets stated scope.

Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
