Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Electronics Engineer – BQM-34 Avionics Lead to join our team in Rancho Bernando, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
The BQM-34 Avionics Lead will be responsible for avionics design including harnesses, relays, relay-logic, serial interfaces, software interfaces, component schematics, electrical assembly build, integration and test, and can represent the program in this discipline area.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Team Leader, System integration, test development and execution of various types of complex avionics systems
- Create and develop documentation for system requirements and interfaces, including system engineering drawings and diagrams
- Troubleshoot systems to resolve complex issues, interact and coordinate with responsible Subsystems engineers responsible for sustaining subsystems
- Serve as an interface between the Operations & Test organization and the engineers
- Ensure Subsystems performance meets specified levels
- Proactively maintain overall system performance of deployed Subsystems
- Perform troubleshooting, document issues and coordinate field replacements/upgrades of Subsystems
- Contribute to improvement of processes, design and future sustainment efforts
- Actively participate in Program Risk and Opportunity Management
Must be a self-directed technical leader with strong communication skills, demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary technical trades, and ability to develop & execute to a strategy.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 7 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with Avionics design including harnesses, relays, relay-logic, serial interfaces, software interfaces, component schematics, electrical assembly build, integration and test, and can represent the program in this discipline area.
- Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance.
- May require the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP, should it be required, must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 7 years of related engineering experience.
- Several years’ experience as an Avionics Design Lead, harnesses, relays, relay-logic, serial interfaces, software interfaces, component schematics, electrical assembly build, integration and test, and can represent the program in this discipline area.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
