Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Electronic Engineer or Electronic Engineer to join our Mission Systems sector site in Apopka, FL. This position is to support the design, integration, test, and production of laser and electro-optical systems for handheld, ground, and airborne products.

What you’ll get to do:

The new team member will possess design, test, and documentation experience in areas of:

  • Embedded Micro-Controllers,
  • Low Power Architecture,
  • FPGA Image/Signal Processing,
  • Electro-Optic Sensor Interface
  • Distributed Network Systems,
  • Programming/Understanding of VHDL source code and FPGA code simulation

The new team member must be able to work independently as a member of a multi-disciplinary design team and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Past experience should include root cause corrective action (RCCA) determinations as well as the ability to generate engineering change notices (ECNs), update models / drawings, and release of appropriate documentation using TeamCenter applications. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is critical.   

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • FPGA and Micro-controller programming.
  • VHDL source and Test bench code.
  • Design and documentation of video/image/signal processing electronics.
  • Design and documentation of low power architectures utilizing FPGA’s and micro-controllers.
  • Generating detail electronic schematics, CCA drawings, and BOM’s high-speed digital electronic designs.
  • Implementation and test of image/signal processing algorithms.
  • Debug, test, and integration of high-speed digital electronic circuits in complex electro-optic systems.
  • EMI / EMC design and test.
  • Generating ECNs and entering documentation into TeamCenter databases.

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Electronic Engineer:

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 6 months related professional experience.
  • FPGA and Micro-controller circuit design and programming (or equivalent college coursework)
  • FPGA code simulation (or equivalent college coursework)
  • General analog and digital circuit design and troubleshooting
  • Circuit Analysis using software tools such as PSPICE
  • Electrical Component Selection and Obsolescence
  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

 
Basic Qualifications for an Electronic Engineer:

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years engineering experience,
  •   or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • FPGA and Micro-controller circuit design and programming (or equivalent college coursework)
  • FPGA code simulation (or equivalent college coursework)
  • General analog and digital circuit design and troubleshooting
  • Circuit Analysis using software tools such as PSPICE
  • Electrical Component Selection and Obsolescence
  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Image/Signal processing algorithm development experience
  • QuestaSim FPGA code simulation experience
  • Electro-Optic circuit design and test
  • Inertial Measurement Sensor interface experience
  • Mixed analog, power, and digital signal CCA experience
  • EMI / EMC design and test to MIL-STD-461
  • Test, measurement, and control software experience
  • Mathematic and modeling analysis software using tools such as MATLAB, MathCad, and Mathematica
  • Experience with Military Vehicle and Aircraft Specifications
  • Experience supporting the integration of complex laser and optical-mechanical prototypes
  • Experience with TeamCenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) applications
  • Cadence Concept Schematic Capture Experience
  • Cadence Allegro Printed Circuit Board Layout Experience
  • Hand soldering and light assembly experience

Salary Range: $60,600 USD - $91,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
