Job Description

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Staff RF Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future.  This position will be located in Melbourne, FL

The candidate will be expected to thoroughly understand all system requirements, specifications, and interface control documents, prepare, monitor, and update program schedules, conduct and participate in all related design reviews, and provide technical guidance to the cross-functional team.   The candidate will collaborate with subsystem responsible engineers, mission management hardware engineers, and system test engineers. Daily activities include team collaboration, supplier management, architecture development and support integration.  Specific tasks performed in this role are system integration, Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) modeling, principal understanding of radar range equation. Collaboration with the Missions Systems team is inclusive of but not limited to of the following Design and Analysis of; EW, Link Budget, Communications, Antenna, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Radar, Amplifiers, Co-site, and Navigation Techniques.

Essential Functions:

  • RF design and analysis of avionics used on military aircraft

  • Gathering of data, requirements development, interfacing with suppliers and briefing customer

  • Acting as manufacturing liaison during build process of your project to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved

  • Support integration of avionics on military aircraft

  • Basic knowledge of design and analysis tools for RF design

Basic Qualifications:

For – Staff RF Engineer (T05):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of experience OR 9 years’ experience with PhD for T05.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain additional Special Access Program (SAP) access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current, active in-scope DoD Secret or higher security clearance

  • Proficiency with Matlab, Simulink, HFSS, STK, EMIT

  • Familiarity with DOORS or CAMEO

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Ability to lead fellow engineers on technical efforts

  • Experience performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.


Salary Range: $134,700 USD - $202,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
