Job Description

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a RF Sensors Engineer / Principal RF Sensors Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future.  This position will be located in Melbourne, FL

**This position may be filled by either an RF Sensors Engineer level or a Principal RF Sensors Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Air Dominance Division is developing advanced tactical aircraft for the current and future battlespace. The Mission Systems IPT is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and testing RF sensors onto and into these airborne platforms.

The RF sensors engineer in this role will be responsible for one or more of the following:

  • Electromagnetics modelling with analysis tools

  • Defining, specifying, tracing, and modelling requirements for the next generation of advanced RF sensors

  • ​These sensors include but are not limited to radar, electronic warfare, and multi-function apertures

  • Modelling Electronic Support performance within a Mission Systems Suite

  • Integrating the back end of RF sensors into a mission management network

  • Technical management of RF sensors suppliers

Basic Qualifications:

For – RF Sensors Engineer (T02):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university for T02 level.

  • Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

Basic Qualifications:

For – Principal RF Sensors Engineer (T03):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience OR 0 years’ experience with PhD for T03 level.

  • Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)

  • Experience with Antenna testing and analysis

  • Electronic Warfare experience

  • Experience with sensor providers/suppliers

  • Electromagnetics modeling experience with homegrown tools and commercial tools (such as Microwave CST and Ansys HFSS)

  • Experience with Cameo, DOORs, Rhapsody, writing requirements, and tracing requirements through various levels (from Systems Requirement Document down to Weapon System Specification down to Segment Specifications down to Subsystem Specifications)


Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
