Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal RF Sensors Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. 

The Sensors Engineer reports to the Electronic Warfare System (EWS) Lead and is responsible for hardware/software integration and test in the laboratory, test bed and planeside.  The Sensors Engineer assists with the planning, coordination, and analysis supporting development, integration, test, production, and flight test.

Candidate must demonstrate technical understanding in the field of RF spectrum operations as well as knowledge of other related disciplines. The candidate must have effective communication skills and a demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present technical approaches and findings. The Sensors Engineer will frequently collaborate with technical leadership on system requirements generation and associated flow down, subsystem design/analysis, and subsystem performance verification including lab and range testing.

The Sensors engineer will be required to support any stage of the aircraft system life cycle activity such as developing primary designs, integrating into a system, supporting fielding of the system, supporting airworthiness activity, and supporting testing of the systems.  The Sensors Engineer will coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure robust and maintainable configurations are produced. The Sensors Engineer will attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

The Sensors Engineer will work under limited supervision; work should only be required to be reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives.  The Sensors Engineer must have the ability to determine and develop approaches to solutions within schedule and cost objectives.

Essential Functions:

•            Travel 20%

•            Create analysis tools with MATLAB or Python

•            Collaborate in a team environment

Basic Qualifications:

For – Sr. Principal RF Sensors Engineer (T04):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of experience OR 4 years’ experience with PhD for T04.

  • Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

  • Experience with Integration and Test campaigns

  • Experience with RF Test Equipment, Electromagnetic Spectrum Operation theory, signal processing, data fusion, software, trackers, covariance matrices, correlation, ambiguity functions, OMS/OCS standards, sensor physical ICDs, software ICDs, bus standards, and/or data rates 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or PhD in Electrical Engineering

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance

  • Experience with DOORs

  • Experience with CPLM/NX

  • Experience with Material Review Board

  • Familiarity with the engineering design release and revision processes

  • Integration of subsystems components into various types of aircraft applications.  

  • Performing integration related tasks utilizing the NX and Teamcenter tool suite Knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD) concepts, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) 

Salary Range: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
