Manager Electronics Engineering 3: Electrical Assembly Design & Verification Section Lead

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a leader to manage its radio frequency (RF) microwave and mixed signal electrical design engineering section. This section is comprised of multiple front line engineering groups responsible for architecting, designing, verifying, and supporting existing and future RF microwave and mixed signal assemblies. This section supports many RF and mixed signal products including advanced packaging interposers, ferrite devices, manifolds, multi-chip modules, planar array tiles, radiators, and receiver/exciter circuit card assemblies. The section’s skill sets include trading requirements, package and device trade studies and specification, frequency planning, RF budgeting and chain analysis, board and assembly design, electromagnetic simulation, data reduction and analysis, design verification, and production support.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manager of managers position with 3 manager-led functional groups comprising the section
  • Oversee the performance management process, compensation planning, talent development, continuous improvement, and program staffing
  • Provide project and technical oversight for design activities performed by the section
  • Maintain and ensure application of design processes and guidelines used in the section
  • Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with peer section managers to ensure consistency across multiple organizations
  • Support department initiatives, recruiting, workload forecasting, technology roadmap creation, cross-campus/sector involvement, department budget planning, and internally funded projects

This position is located in Baltimore, MD. This position will report to the Execution Lead (Director) of Advanced Mission Capability Restricted Engineering.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Technical degree
  • Minimum 12 years of related engineering experience including responsibility as an integrated product team leader, technical leader, and/or functional leader
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of RF electronics
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent
  • 15 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
  • Demonstrated success leading high performance teams as technical, integrated product team, and/or functional leader
  • RF and mixed signal product design, fabrication, and integration experience including, but not limited to, products in high reliability military applications
  • Current Secret or Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $168,100 USD - $252,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
