Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking multiple leaders to manage its growing radio frequency (RF) microwave and mixed signal electrical subsystem and hardware design engineering team. These groups are responsible for architecting, designing, verifying, and supporting existing and future RF microwave and mixed signal assemblies and subsystems across a variety of platforms. Group skill sets include trading requirements, package and device trade studies and specification, frequency planning, RF budgeting and chain analysis, board and assembly design, electromagnetic simulation, data reduction and analysis, design verification, and production support.

There are multiple positions open supporting different business areas. These positions are located in Baltimore, MD. These positions will report to the cognizant Hardware Section Lead within each business area with an opening.

These positions are dual role encompassing both people and project/technical leadership.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead an engineering functional group of 5 to 8 junior to mid-level engineers including performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning
  • Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the group
  • Ensure application of design processes and guidelines used in the group
  • Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with peer managers to ensure consistency across multiple work groups
  • Support department initiatives, recruiting, cross-campus/sector involvement, and internally funded projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Technical degree
  • Minimum 5 years of related engineering experience including responsibility as an integrated product team or technical lead
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of RF electronics
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent
  • 7 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
  • Demonstrated success leading high performance teams as technical, integrated product team, and/or functional leader
  • RF and mixed signal product design, fabrication, and integration experience including, but not limited to, products in high reliability military applications
  • Current Secret or Top Secret Clearance


Salary Range: $117,600 USD - $176,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
