Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS), located in Lanham Maryland, specializes in high performance, high reliability avionics and Space Flight subsystems for Aerospace, Defense, Space , Nuclear Defense and Instrumentation applications. ATS' space products have supported more than 28 space missions over a period of 25 years. These missions stretch back to Apollo and the beginning of the US Space Program and include a large diversity of civil and military programs, including notable programs like SBIRS, X-37B, Hubble, Orbital Express, Space Station, Shuttle, Mars Lander, Astronaut EMU Suits and 20 other NASA missions including four of their early small satellites.  ATS was one of the first organizations in Northrop Grumman to foresee the potential of evolving Small Satellite technologies for application within the military, civil and commercial space markets.

We have an opening for a Parts Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be located in Lanham Maryland.

Responsibilities:

- Apply in-depth understanding of EEE component technical standards in the selection and evaluation of EEE parts for use in spacecraft orbital operations and ground testing equipment

- Lead individual programs as well as enterprise level activities related to assessment of supplier compliance to standards, assessment of impacts from industry technical alerts (GIDEP, etc) and identification of parts to meet demanding reliability/ performance/cost/delivery schedule objectives

- Evaluate non-compliances to industry and company standards and provide risk assessments to key program decision makers

- Interface with lead personnel and management in Mission Assurance, Electrical Engineering, and Manufacturing organizations to meet ongoing production and new product development needs

- Support proposal and IRAD projects, including evaluation of alternative technologies and articulation of risk

- Mentor/train component parts engineers and supporting engineering personnel - Identify and implement process improvement initiatives impacting efficiency and effectiveness of component parts department

- Assess components for compliance to program and industry PMP requirements (INST-002, TOR, JEDEC, etc.)

- Generate plans, procedures, and EEE part procurement and screening documents (SCD's, SoCD’s, SID's, and AID's) for military and aerospace programs as required by MIL/NASA standards and/or contract.

- Review screening and test data received from manufacturers and test laboratories for compliance to specifications, purchase order requirements, and program contract compliance.

- Evaluate defective components and failure analysis reports as required. Interface internally with Electrical Design Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Quality Engineers in support of risk mitigation and material review efforts.

- Report on the manufacturers, materials, construction, usage (environment & electrical de-rating), and overall reliability of the selected parts to the EEE parts control board (PCB).

This requisition may be filled as a Principal (level 3) or a Sr Principal (level 4)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field
  • Minimum of 5 years (level 3) or 9 years (level 4) of related experience
  • Detailed understanding of INST-002 and/or TOR EEE parts standards
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Master level knowledge of INST-002 and/or TOR EEE parts standards
  • Experience with Internet part vendors and Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) searches
  • Experience in identifying and rectifying discrepancies between part numbers provided and correct part numbers as defined in supplier and military drawings and specifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a spacecraft component parts engineer
  • 5+ years of experience evaluating GIDEP Alerts for impact to designs/products
  • Excellent communication skills

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
