The NGMS Field Engineering team based in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer to support B1 radar support operations located in Linthicum, MD. This position has three areas of responsibility; B1 radar system maintenance, assisting with RAPQ (RSU I Advanced Prototyping & Qualification) contract support and flight test support.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Maintain three (3) bench B1 radar systems, one (1) B1 Tower radar and one (1) radar system on the CRJ test aircraft.
  • Assist with the integration and test (I&T) of the RAPQ system into the B1 radar. RAPQ is an upgrade to the B1 Radar Video System Processor (RVSP).
  • Flight test support includes preparing the CRJ test aircraft based B1 radar and test equipment for test flights, developing flight cards and learning to be a radar operator.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will learn the B1 radar system and perform system tests, alignments, calibrations, troubleshooting, and sub-system remove and replacements. Among other things some tasks include using the system to troubleshooting and retest subsystems that have returned from repair.
  • I&T tasks on RAPQ include prototype chassis buildup, test script development and updates (using TCL), performing tests and analyzing test data. RAPQ testing will occur on a bench, on test flights and in environmental qualification tests at the Product Qualification Lab.
  • Maintain operational status and configuration of NGC radar assets on aircraft. Utilize knowledge, special test equipment (STE), and instrumented data to troubleshoot/repair radar hardware failures to ensure test aircraft mission capability
  • Participate in mission planning. Develop safe, secure, effective, efficient flight test scenarios.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related STEM Degree with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience; Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related STEM Degree with a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of radar functionally and hardware.
  • Experience with specialized test equipment and tools used to troubleshoot/repair radars.
  • US Citizen with active Secret Clearance investigated within the last 5 years, with the ability to gain program specific clearances.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related STEM Degree with a minimum of 9 years of related work experience; Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related STEM Degree with a minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of radar functionally and hardware.
  • Experience with specialized test equipment and tools used to troubleshoot/repair radars.
  • US Citizen with active Secret Clearance investigated within the last 5 years, with the ability to gain program specific clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with developmental flight test, particularly of military aircraft systems.
  • Working knowledge of C++ programming language used in the software tool support.

Salary Range: $99,800 USD - $149,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
