We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Test Engineer based out of San Diego, CA. As a Systems Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll Get to Do:

The Systems Test Engineer should have a hardware test focus (digital, analog, and RF), and experience with COTS Test Equipment. The candidate will support the development of NG Communications, Navigation, and Identification (CNI) Systems and Test Sets.  As a system integrator and tester, the candidate will work with equipment that involved in automation using LabVIEW, TestStand, and CVI software.  Selected candidate will work in the technical environment involving RF, Digital, Analog, Network interfaces, and Database Command/ Control during the system development and Integration and Test on programs within our CS OU.  Programs covered by this OU are F-35 CNI programs, F22 CNI programs, CNI production and sustainment programs.

This position will require onsite work however for this role we are able to offer flexible work arrangements and some remote work will be possible.



This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the requirements below.

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Test Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience; may consider an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Test Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; may consider an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Basic Qualifications for a Systems and Principal Systems Test Engineer:

  • Experience in the field of Systems Engineering, System Integration and Test and/or program management.

  • Candidate must have familiarity with common RF test equipment (e.g. Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope)

  • Candidate should be proficiency with test system calibration

  • Candidate must have understanding of systems integration and test process.

  • Candidate must have knowledge of engineering process, be proficient in process development as well as functional organization aspects.

  • US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be able to acquire and maintain security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.

  • Candidate should have hands on experience with DoD Communications Systems

  • Candidate who has understanding of RF Communication test techniques

  • Candidate who has worked with CNI Systems, Wireless Communication Systems, and RF Communication test techniques.

  • Candidate must have knowledge of real-time embedded communication systems

  • DOD Secret and SAR highly preferred

  • Knowledge of F-35 and F-22 communications systems and associated waveforms


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
