Sr. Principal Proposal Engineer, Air Vehicle Structures

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Sr. Principal Air Vehicle Structures Proposal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering department. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida. This position may be filled at a higher grade based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report to both the Air Vehicle IPT Leader and to the Air Vehicle Proposal Manager

• Ensure that the proposal is technically sound and meets all budgetary and schedule requirements

• Provide technical guidance and coordinate a small team of engineers in proposal activities supporting a Corporate Priority Win Effort

• Lead a team producing the engineering artifacts to support capture efforts.

• Engage in estimating, cost reduction opportunities, trade studies associated with sourcing, and Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) activities

• Verify the proposal offering meets requirements and is capable of being executed within the specified contract limits

• Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates

• Other responsibilities and duties include managing team cost and schedule and mentoring junior engineers in Structural design and analysis techniques

• The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 9 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in structural design and/or structural analysis OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in structural design and/or structural analysis

• Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

• Able to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAP) prior to the commencement of employment

• Excellent communication and writing skills

• Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.

• Experience working in an aerospace environment

• Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM

• Managerial / Team Lead experience

• Earned Value Management experience

• Experience with proposals and program captures within the Aerospace and Defense industry

• Self-starter and capable of flourishing in an environment with minimal direction.

Salary Range: $101,600 USD - $152,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
