Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Staff Air Vehicle Proposal Engineer specializing in Aircraft Fluid Subsystems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will report to both the Air Vehicle IPT Leader and to the Air Vehicle Proposal Manager.
  • The candidate will ensure that the proposal is technically sound and meets all budgetary and schedule requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and coordinate a small team of engineers in proposal activities supporting a Corporate Priority Win Effort
  • Lead a team producing the engineering artifacts to support capture efforts.
  • The team will be engaged in estimating, cost reduction opportunities, hardware trade studies associated with sourcing, and Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) activities.
  • Verify the proposal offering meets requirements and is capable of being executed within the specified contract limits.
  • Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates. 
  • Other responsibilities and duties include managing team cost and schedule and mentoring junior engineers in fluid subsystems design and analysis techniques.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. The candidate must be a self-starter capable of flourishing in an environment with minimal direction.  The candidate will need to have excellent communication and writing skills with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 14 years of industry experience with expertise in aircraft Fluid Subsystems and working knowledge of other Air Vehicle fields (Airframe, Configuration, Flight Sciences, etc.), OR a Master's degree AND 12 years of industry experience with expertise in aircraft Fluid Subsystems and working knowledge of other Air Vehicle fluids (airframe, configuration, flight sciences, etc.), OR a Ph.D. AND 9 years of industry experience with expertise in aircraft Fluid Subsystems and working knowledge of other Air Vehicle fluids (airframe, configuration, flight sciences, etc.).
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM.
  • Managerial / Team Lead experience.
  • Earned Value Management experience.
  • Experience with proposals and program captures within the Aerospace and Defense industry

Salary Range: $122,500 USD - $183,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
