Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) sector delivers a decisive advantage to its customers through software-defined, hardware-enabled solutions. The Electrical Assembly Design & Verification section in Linthicum, MD enables these hardware solutions by providing RF microwave and mixed signal architecture, design, verification, and support expertise across a wide variety electronic sensor products. Our engineers work on complex, leading edge, high reliability electronics supporting maritime, ground, airborne, and space platforms.

What You Will Do:

NGMS is seeking engineers with experience and interest in electronic assembly and packaging design including:

• Design backplanes for moderate to complex systems according to design requirements outlined by customers and Mechanical and Electrical engineers.
• Prepare backplane PCB designs based on customer input/customer specifications or industry standards (VITA)
• Participate in design review meetings Requirements:
• Design circuits for various applications Interface with Signal integrity specialist and follow guidelines provided to ensure compliance to highspeed PCB layout requirements
• Prepare backplane schematics, review PCB layout check plots and associate artwork files
• Check backplane designs for accuracy and ensure compliance to industry standards Interface with customers during the design phase to resolve open issues during design reviews
• Partner with PCB fab shop to resolve open issues and ensure DFM
• Collaborate with manufacturing and testing personnel as needed to ensure assembly of product to documentation provided
   

Basic Qualifications:

This position may be filled at either the RF Engineer, Level T02, or RF Principal Engineer, Level T03

• Electrical Engineering or related STEM field degree: Bachelor of Science or Master of Science or PhD degree
• 5 or more years of proven experience as a designer and Electrical Engineer in a backplane industry
• Proficiency in Mentor Expedition
• Experienced in backplane/PCB design, circuit design experience for high-current and high-speed applications
• Understanding of fundamentals of electronics, mechanical requirements and drawings, DFM rules
• Proficiency in backplane design-related VITA standards
• Take all design aspects of product development from concept to production including modification of layouts, testing and working with engineering staff
• Must have knowledge of signal integrity principles
• Experience with rigid-flex-rigid PCB design is a considered a plus
• US Citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance

Salary Range: $81,000 USD - $121,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
