The selected candidate will be a direct report to the Mission Readiness & Protective Systems (MRPS) Manager in the division engineering functional and will support the MRPS International Strategy and Growth Operating Unit Director.

 

The Chief Engineer is responsible for a wide range of activities to include execution of all engineering processes in accordance with Northrop Grumman policies and guidelines, leading solution teams for new business and resolution of technical and engineering challenges as these arise.  The Chief Engineer would be the technical authority for all aspects of engineering across the CHORD product line and portfolio of programs.  As the Chief Engineer you will have regular interaction with business and customer leadership representing the portfolio technology solutions.  The Chief Engineer will collaborate with the required stakeholders to maintain the CHORD technology roadmap(s).

 

The Chief Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Development and collaboration of technical roadmaps/architectures based on Customer requirements, aligned with business strategies, and interfacing to Operating Unit and Business Unit leadership
  • Being the primary technical liaison across the organization
  • Working closely with internal and external customers and stakeholders to achieve objectives
  • Performing mentorship and knowledge transfer to increase technical depth of expertise with program engineers

 

A successful candidate for this role will:

  • Apply experience gained in the development of security products (i.e., cross domain solutions, cryptographic devices, firewalls, trusted interfaces)
  • Apply knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements and processes needed to gain operational accreditation
  • Excel at technical organic product-line growth and development and maintaining customer relationships. 
  • Perform as an advisor and SME of the program and be an independent technical authority to synchronize activities across the CHORD product-line and programs
  • Possess proven expertise in one or more engineering discipline, with associated technical accomplishments
  • Be an oft-sought counsel, within the CHORD product-line portfolio of programs, relied upon to solve unique problems and make sound engineering decisions

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering or related scientific field
  • 14 years’ engineering experience with Bachelors in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline OR 12 years’ engineering experience with Masters in a STEM discipline OR 9 years’ engineering experience with PhD in a STEM discipline
  • Knowledge of product development life cycle and interactions among engineering disciplines
  • Experience with Hardware and Software design
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Must be able to accommodate up to 25% travel with some overseas trips possible

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI or SCI in good standing
  • Master's degree or higher in engineering or related scientific discipline
  • 10 years' experience in either Systems Engineering or Software Engineering
  • 5 years' experience with Agile Methodologies
  • Experience in designing complex system architectures
  • Experience with FPGA modules
  • Experience with Cross Domain Solutions or similar technologies
  • Familiarity with Networking
  • Experience with Classified Systems and Environments
  • Experience with modern software concepts including containerization and software factory, including Dev*Ops, continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) and continuous authority to operate

Salary Range: $139,000 - $208,600
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
