Job Description:
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager of Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of the F-35 Lightning II Program! The selected candidate will be assigned to the F-35 Fighter Readiness, Sustainment, & Training Operating Unit as a Functional Manager for a diverse and geographically dispersed team of Supportable Low Observables (SLO) Field Support Engineers (FSEs). This role will be fully tele-work position, with frequent travel to visit site locations.
Essential Functions:
Manage personnel by tailoring resources based on discipline requirements, program objectives, and company policy.
Mentor, guide and foster employee development, oversee performance review process, establish employee training criteria and coordinate with IPT managers to ensure skilled talents and tools are provided to support programs.
Support and manage following activities: hiring and attrition, personnel management, resolution of personnel and performance issues, salary planning, employee rewards and recognition, skill-set training and employee engagement and inclusion initiatives.
Lead SLO FSE and RVE SME Team by assisting NGAS & NGDS leadership with task management and team leadership.
Oversee execution of various Statements of Work (SOW) on the F-35 SLO & Field Support Engineering IPT.
Provide direction to employees, when needed, including assignment of cost, schedule and technical tasks.
Integrate into a high tempo military operational environment.
Provide engineering and aircraft maintenance guidance to military and civilian maintainers and depot technicians and engineers with confidence and authority.
Identify technical issues and recommend solutions to support the F-35 engineering disposition process and technical data updates.
Manage, track multiple engineering and logistic support activities, and provide periodic status to customers and program management team.
Document maintenance activities, collate data to identify emerging failure trends and provide recommendations to reduce aircraft down time, improve maintenance practices and advise on vehicle and mission system maintenance tasks.
Provide authorized engineering products to supplement published engineering technical data.
Author recommended technical data updates and/or assist customer with recommendations.
Combine engineering knowledge with real world maintenance experience.
Conduct training and provide product briefings to customers, vendors, and company representatives.
Support program technical interchange meetings and program plans development relating to problem analysis, engineering dispositions and in-house technical support.
Work any shift, weekends, overtime and holidays, if necessary, as well as travel on Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY's) to support F-35 program requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field and 8+ years of experience in tactical military aircraft Field Support, Field Engineering, or Radar Cross Section (RCS) assessment using Repair Verification Equipment (RVE).
Field support or prior military experience.
Demonstrated experience managing or leading a technical team.
Must have experience with training military maintainers and contractor/DoD technicians.
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
F-35 Program SLO/RVE Tier II LO verification.
Program Management (PM) experience.
Expert knowledge of engineering tools such as CATIA, VAS, and PDM.
Expert knowledge of F-35 tools such as LIST, JDL, and ALIS.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
