We are looking for you to join our team as a Hardware Field Engineer based out San Diego, CA with 75% travel overseas - relocation to San Diego not required.

What You’ll get to Do:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and develop technical expertise across the engineering spectrum. You will get to support operations and maintenance of KA and KU data Systems in a sustained operation with 75% travel overseas and CONUS.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating non routine maintenance and technical notices

  • Coordinating and troubleshooting OCONUS issues that require engineering assistance

  • Reviewing schematics and other engineering and maintenance process related documentation

  • Providing OCONUS operations technical expertise to factory engineering teams and the training department.

  • Ability to setup/install KU/KA Satcom equipment in both a ground and airborne configuration

  • Trouble shoot KU/KA Satcom software/network/hardware issues to resolve issues

  • Tracking and advising the factory engineering team regarding the resolution of OCONUS discrepancies

  • Assisting Spectrum Software and Cyber engineering in development and delivery of software upgrades and service packs

  • Advising Systems engineering on the potential impacts of future design changes to OCONUS operations

  • Project Management installing and upgrading equipment in the field.

While on travel OCONUS:

  • Work on a flight line configuring systems for both ground and flight

  • Troubleshoot Hardware/Software issues

  • Perform system and computer maintenance

  • Operate and control links during operational missions

  • Perform hardware and software trouble shooting to ensure mission success

  • Perform as a Technical Lead of the OCONUS Tech Team

Extended travel up to 75% to hazardous overseas duty locations

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years with Bachelors in Science degree OR 6+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

  • Active Secret (or above) security clearance with the investigation completed within the last 4 years.

  • Must pass a physical health assessment and meet the minimal standards of fitness in alignment with AFCENT Requirements.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 75% (travel to hazardous deployment areas) and multi-month overseas deployments.

  • Candidate must pass two of the three certifications: CCNA, COMPTIA Security +, and Linux + within 6 months.

  • Candidate will have broad experience with the operation, configuration and maintenance of military KA SATCOM and KU band command and control systems to include bore-sighting, installation/removal, antenna placement, and maintenance.

  • Candidate must have knowledge of computers, radios, radio transmission fundamentals, RF theory and A/C power distribution systems.

  • Candidate must have knowledge of commercial/military interface and networking standards to include RS-232, RS-422, 1553, TCP/IP and UDP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • COMPTIA Linux +

  • CCNA

  • Candidate must possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.

  • Candidate should also have experience with electrical soldering and mil-standard connectors.

  • The candidate will work closely with an Active Duty/Government customer as well as internal Northrop Grumman Integrated

  • Product Teams (IPTs).

  • Extended travel to hazardous overseas duty locations is required and experience on flight lines, working on aircraft is a plus.

  • Understand satellite communications to understand look angle, antenna positioning, bore-sighting.

Salary Range: $63,800 USD - $95,600 USD
