Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is looking for you to lead our customer facing Agile Hardware (AHW) Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead in Huntsville, AL. Join our Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System team to integrate disparate radars and weapons to construct a far more effective IAMD enterprise. IBCS delivers a single integrated air picture with unprecedented accuracy and broadens surveillance and protection areas.

, In this role you will direct and manage a diverse set of Agile teams and support teams focused on implementing new IBCS hardware designs, and capability enhancements. These teams use agile Kanban methods to provide logistics, HW engineering, test, and systems engineering products, and ultimately delivering engineering change proposals to the customer for approval and incorporation into the IBCS system. The team is responsible for developing, prototyping, and integration of these solutions into the IBCS technical baseline and collaborating with the global supply organization and production teams to assure on-time delivery of new capabilities on an active production line.  

The selected candidate will provide support to the customer through weekly reporting and collaboration meetings. Candidate will be internally accountable to program leadership for cost and schedule in their role as control account manager (CAM) and have responsibility to align the AHW team with program-wide initiatives. AHW IPT lead will oversee the development and execution of technical reviews, configuration control and engineering review boards, and partner with program and government customer lead representatives to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative engineering solutions.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide the management and technical direction the IBCS AHW IPT
  • Execute control account manager duties ensuring compliance with EV reporting
  • Manage and lead cross-functional teams of high-performing engineers developing advanced systems designs and concepts
  • Direct Team leads to ensure program objectives, technical requirements, and schedule are met
  • Interfacing with the design and implementation engineers’ architects and government representatives to ensure that robust and compliant designs are developed
  • Provide the management and technical direction for a high visibility program
  • Working with the Agile Teams to ensure that the overall system implementation meets the requirements for performance.
  • Participate in PI planning with SW counterparts to synchronize efforts program efforts

Basic Qualifications:

  • 14 years with Bachelor of Science; 12 years with master’s degree; 9 years with PhD
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Control Account Management (CAM) experience
  • Organizational skills; Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) experience
  • Thorough understanding of the Hardware Development cycle.
  • Ability to understand the impact of technical data to the system
  • Ability to be firm but tactful during difficult situations with team members, management, and customers
  • Experience interviewing potential staff members
  • Thorough understanding of classified network protocols
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Demonstrated technical and leadership skills, demonstrating decisiveness and ability to make sound technical judgements with limited information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience engineering and/or integrating software components and technologies relative to Weapon Systems, Sensors, C2 Systems and/or networks in large, distributed military (US/NATO) operational environments
  • Customer and upper management presentation skills
  • Experience in aerial defense weapon systems and/or network engineering in a large, distributed environment with emphasis on military (US/NATO) operations
  • IBCS knowledge
  • FMS experience
  • Thorough understanding of the Hardware Development cycle within an Agile Environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Integrated Air and Missile Defense systems
  • Sensor and effector domain knowledge as it relates to battle management systems

Salary Range: $147,000 USD - $221,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
