Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is hiring Principal Manufacturing Engineers / Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineers to join our team of qualified diverse team members.  These positions will be located in El Segundo, CA.

The manufacturing engineers we are seeking have experience in one or more of the following statements of work / products: assembly, tooling, composites, additive manufacturing, machining processes.

The manufacturing engineers are responsible for the manufacturability of the product / product lines.  They design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. They develop manufacturing plans and designs sequence of operations that define efficient operations, and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect the product / product line performance. They ensure proper definition, problem solve, and support the Operations teams in maintaining production flow to meet deliveries.  They collaborate with Quality to incorporate inspections and test requirements into the production planning to ensure it’s quality. Manufacturing engineers are vital in root cause analysis to quality issues, and take the lead and/or support corrective actions and provide technical solutions to non-conformances. They work with Engineering and provide guidance regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. They take the lead in continuous improvement, and lead projects to bring about operational excellence and improvements from a safety, quality, delivery and cost perspective. Manufacturing engineers ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations, and that everything is done in a safe manner.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of STEM experience, Master’s Degree with 3 years of STEM experience, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a STEM degree, in manufacturing engineering or an engineering related field (Eg. Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems)
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting Blueprints and GD&T
  • Basic knowledge and interfacing Computer Aided Design (CAD) Tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems 
  • Ability to interface/communicate with multiple levels of leadership, internal and external customers and stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Experience in leading and managing multiple projects.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or higher within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company business needs.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years of STEM experience, Master’s Degree with 7 years of STEM experience, or 17 years of related experience in lieu of a STEM degree, in manufacturing engineering or an engineering related field (E.g. Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems)
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting Blueprints and GD&T
  • Basic knowledge and interfacing Computer Aided Design (CAD) Tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems 
  • Ability to interface/communicate with multiple levels of leadership, internal and external customers and stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Experience in leading and managing multiple projects.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or higher within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field
  • Current DOD Secret Clearance or higher
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates
  • Siemens NX, Team Center, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution Systems, Tableau
  • System Integration and Test equipment and techniques into production lines
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Assembly, Assembly techniques for large scale products
    • Tooling, Tool Design and concepts
    • Composite bonded structure and assemblies
    • Tube Assemblies, Machining, Sheet Metal, Mechanical Sub-assemblies, Welding
  • Design for Manufacturing and latest manufacturing technologies
  • Lean / Six Sigma Experience is a plus

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
