At Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Ridgecrest, CA, we are currently seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer to support our mission. This position works on a 4/10 schedule, where you will have every Friday off.

Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, IPT Lead, and Operations to ensure producibility meets the program targets, including Yield and continuous improvement opportunities. This individual will support the AARGM family of products and Digital Transformation efforts.

Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:

Process Development

  • Assist with Assembly Instruction updates

  • Assist in writing rework instructions

  • Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and affordability

  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Working in cross-functional teams to develop new methods, applications, and processes to support current and future manufacturing needs

  • Develop an effective understanding of current operations processes across stakeholder departments

  • Develop MES work plans

  • Work across multiple stakeholder departments to facilitate the execution of implementation plans as provided by the business unit’s subject matter expert (SME)

    • Conduct meetings, training, and software demonstrations as required

  • Train production line personnel to use the MES platform per procedures authored by the SME

  • Train Manufacturing Engineers to use the MES platform per procedures authored by the SME

  • Author content in the MES platform in tandem with Manufacturing Engineers to meet implementation milestones and deadlines

  • Learn to translate Operations processes into paperless, automated, digital environments

  • Facilitate the acquisition of necessary hardware to ensure product lines can use the MES platform.

  • Process Map Support

Factory Support

  • Assisting the floor in optimization of process monitoring for process yields, cost, and process stability and capability.

  • Working with the production floor personnel to resolve technical issues.

  • Assisting with training new personnel, and generating process-specific training materials and process procedures.

  • Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment

  • Recommending and implementing quality improvements based on metrics and data on efficiency and affordability.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Process Engineer (T03):

  • High school diploma/GED AND a minimum of nine (9) years of related experience. Will consider a Bachelor's degree AND a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, OR a Master's degree AND a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

  • Experience with MRP software such as CostPoint or SAP.

  • Experience with manufacturing process development.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Gov't issued Secret clearance within a timeframe set forth by management; US citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Process Engineer (T04):

  • High school diploma/GED AND a minimum of thirteen (13) years of related experience. Will consider a Bachelor's degree AND a minimum of nine (9) years of related experience, OR a Master's degree AND a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.

  • Experience with MRP software such as CostPoint or SAP.

  • Experience with manufacturing process development.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Gov't issued Secret clearance within a timeframe set forth by management; US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current/active Secret clearance.

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
