Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Precision Targeting and Protection facility in Apopka, FL. is seeking candidates for the position of Manufacturing Engineer-2. This role has daily collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, Production Planning, Operations Program Management, and various strategic teams across the Mission Systems enterprise.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for process technical ownership, optimization, and disposition including top level and subassemblies.
  • Accountable for maintenance of manufacturing instruction within site MES, work product defined procedures, and work instructions.
  • Manufacturing capacity planning support and optimization for responsible production lines.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Digital Tread initiatives support.
  • Accountable for process control, quality, safety, delivery, and rework metrics for responsible production lines.
  • Accountable for manufacturing tooling drawing release via site product life-cycle system.
  • Support of manufacturing proposals & basis-of-estimates (BOE’s) for potential contracts.

Competencies

  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field.
  • General knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Passion and relentless drive for achieving manufacturing and operational results.
  • Root cause problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience with Process control method (SPC/control charts).
  • Experience with Process Capability Analysis (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk ).
  • Broad technical experience in value stream manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with Risk Management identification and mitigation.
  • Action oriented with ability to make quick decisions in response to changing conditions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable Engineering discipline or other technical discipline with 5 years related experience in manufacturing or engineering OR a Master’s Degree with 3 years OR in lieu of a bachelor degree 9 years manufacturing experience with continuous progression considered.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Solid presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas.
  • Commitment to ethics and compliance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US Citizenship a prerequisite)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace or defense product experience: in particular EOIR, LASER, and imaging
  • Experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • TeamCenter Mission Product Life-cycle Management experience
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP system experience
  • Proficiency in CAD Software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, Siemens NX)
  • Digital Manufacturing/Manufacturing Distributed Network (MDN) implementation experience
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Teams Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

MANUMS


Salary Range: $82,000 USD - $123,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
