Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking an entry level Manufacturing Engineer for Surface Mount Technology (SMT). This position focuses on manual component assembly and rework.

The Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:

Process Development

  • Developing and maintaining manufacturing processes with a focus on quality and affordability

  • Creating and managing to project plans (tasks, resources, schedules) for process development activities

  • Providing ROI justification for process improvements

  • Specifying, identifying, and procuring new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and preparing equipment for production

  • Developing and optimizing process parameters

  • Developing/revising process documentation and work instructions

  • Assisting with design of custom tooling

Factory Support

  • Monitoring process yields and cost, recommending and implementing quality improvements based on these metrics

  • Solving of manufacturing problems (related to materials, designs, equipment, people) in a timely manner

  • Assisting with the training of new personnel and participating in the design of operator training materials

  • Working in cross functional teams to execute RCCAs and lean initiatives

Design Support

  • Recommending product design improvements based on manufacturability

  • Documenting process capabilities and guidelines for product designers

  • Participating in design producibility reviews for new products

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM degree

  • At least 6 months of relevant post Bachelor's professional experience

  • Fluency in MS Office software applications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with component soldering and J-STD hardware requirements.

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with the design or manufacturing of microelectronics technology and materials

  • Process/Manufacturing Engineering experience

MANUMS


Salary Range: $60,900 USD - $91,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
