Northrop Grumman is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic and diverse team environment in Lanham, Maryland. 

 

Job Duties:

- Responsible for all Manufacturing engineering aspects of high reliability programs to ensure mission success

- Develops, modifies, applies and maintains manufacturing systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product

- Collaborates with all engineering disciplines and manufacturing functions to ensure efficient production of the highest quality product

- Devises and implements methods and procedures for manufacturing, inspecting, testing and evaluating products and production equipment

- Designs and analyzes manufacturing and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment

- Performs statistical analysis to assess the performance of equipment, processes and functions

- Determines area of possible improvement and documents all required actions to improve the product/process

- Employee will participate in program start up duties including production readiness, design, drawing and process reviews

- Additionally, employee will be responsible for the creation of process planning work orders to direct the production for each piece of hardware that is produced

- Once hardware is on the production floor the employee will work with the floor operators to answer any questions and solve technical issues in real time

- Coordinate with all supporting functional areas in order to determine the best solution for the product to maintain the highest levels of quality

- Conduct briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives

 

The Manufacturing Engineer should have a demonstrated track record of working and communicating with upper management/customer representative as well as a self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervisor oversight.

This positions may be filled at either level based on the qualifications below:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area + 2 years of relevant professional experience (or 0 years with an MS)
  • Principal Manufacturing Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area + 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 0 years with an MS)
  • Hands on manufacturing experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of microelectronics technology and materials
  • Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements and Space Class hardware requirements
  • Experience with automated equipment and robotics in a high volume manufacturing environment

Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
