Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Process Control Monitor (PCM) Test Engineer for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.

Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Silicon Germanium, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. The candidate must be a strong team participant, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful and multitalented. A strong understanding of semiconductor technology and microelectronic manufacturing test methodologies are essential.

The PCM Test Engineer is responsible for wafer and package level semiconductor test activities.  This includes both new product test development and production test support of process control monitor (PCM) devices.  Typical tasks include identifying and evaluating test hardware, designing and debugging probe cards and package test fixtures, verifying equipment operation and performance, troubleshooting issues, developing test code, documenting test plans and procedures, evaluating test data, training and certification of test technicians  and operators, and performing continuous test improvements.  The Test Engineer will interface with test engineering peers, design engineers, product engineers, process engineers, and program managers to resolve issues, optimize test accuracy and capability, improve yields and tester throughput, and meet customer needs.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Process Control Monitor Test Engineer:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline with 5 years of relevant experience. (Masters w/ 3 yrs or PhD w/0yrs)

- Experience (industry or coursework) in device testing/design with basic process monitor device knowledge.

- Good understanding of SPC, design of experiments, and industry standard data analysis software packages (JMP, Minitab, SQL, etc.).

- Familiarity with set-up and operation of oscilloscopes, source meters, spectrum analyzers, etc.

- Source code certification and revision control.
- Good communication and problem solving skills and willingness to work as a team.

- Demonstrated understanding of process and product documentation requirements.

- Aptitude for technology development and laboratory work.

-Must be able to obtain Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Process Control Monitor Test Engineer:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline with 9 years of relevant experience. (Masters w/ 7 yrs or PhD w/4yrs)

- Experience (industry or coursework) in device testing/design with basic process monitor device knowledge.

- Good understanding of SPC, design of experiments, and industry standard data analysis software packages (JMP, Minitab, SQL, etc.).

- Familiarity with set-up and operation of oscilloscopes, source meters, spectrum analyzers, etc.

- Source code certification and revision control.
- Good communication and problem solving skills and willingness to work as a team.

- Demonstrated understanding of process and product documentation requirements.

- Aptitude for technology development and laboratory work.

-Must be able to obtain Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
- Production environment semiconductor test experience.

- Device engineering and process monitor experience.

- Automated Test Equipment and wafer prober operation.

- Basic programming, database access and instrument control experience.

- Advanced PCM test methodologies, including discrete structures.

- C#, Perl, Python, Visual Basic coding experience.

- Versed in test fixture and PCB design.

- Familiar with various Keithely tester platforms.

- Experience with rack and stack type of test systems.

- Soldering and test fixture building skills.


 


Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
