Adaptive Optics Associates – Xinetics (AOX), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Venture, is a leading supplier of complex electro-optic and photonic systems and subsystems that control and manipulate light waves for a variety of applications. We are seeking a Process Engineer to support our manufacturing operations in Devens MA.

Overview

The Process Engineer will be responsible for the execution and support of current projects and programs in the area of PMN actuators of various configurations. The incumbent will be responsible for the day activities associated with the manufacture of electrostictive ceramic actuators and systems.

Specifically, the Process Engineer will be responsible for daily production and process development. They will be the technical interface between the product engineering staff and production. The position activities will include but are not limited to:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the MA Manufacturing Engineering Organization, would work collaboratively with peers and peer organizations in the development and production of PMN actuator products including assembly and test.

  • This role would support project work from new product introduction to ramp up of current production in support of the targeted business growth objectives.

  • Develops engineering processes, monitored process metrics and associated manufacturing work cell functionality. Manufacturing processes shall enable the manufacturing of current and future AOX products that meet technical specifications, high quality standards, and relevant agency compliance requirements.

  • Identify and propose manufacturing improvements projects in collaboration with team members including the following: manufacturing process improvement, yield management, production rate improvement and work cell enhancements and procurement. Use fundamental physical and materials science principles to drive production and design changes that result in superior products.

  • Responding to production process problems and driving the implementation of solutions. Collaborate with Quality Engineers to reduce defects and maintain high production yield rates.

  • Customer-facing responsibilities as it relates to Process Engineering; (i) Support briefings and technical meetings with external customers; and (ii) periodically address customer manufacturing engineering issues and concerns as the company’s POC. This includes the creation of technical presentations that may or may not be presented by the individual.

  • Identify systems and process goals to ensure that work cells and equipment meet operational performance and usage requirements.

  • Technical recommendations and oversight of external suppliers that provide manufacturing services to the Actuator value stream.

  • Collaborates with Product Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best use work cell capabilities and manufacturing processes to assure “design for manufacturing” products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in a S.T.E.M. discipline with 9+ applicable experience, or 5+ years experience with a Masters degree.

  • Knowledge in ASME Y14.5-2009, Dimensioning and Tolerancing specification

  • Clear, concise oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including MS Visio

  • Proven root-cause and Ishikawa analysis skill sets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Material science

  • Experience with automated manufacturing work cells with respect to programing and qualifying same

  • Experience in ceramic manufacturing


Salary Range: $117,700 USD - $176,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
