We are seeking motivated engineers interested in working Analog/Mixed Signal Integrated Circuit (IC) Design to join our team in the design and layout of custom digital superconducting circuits. You will expand your engineer skills while learning about superconducting circuit design.

Primary tasks will include schematic capture, circuit simulation, circuit layout, physical verification (LVS, DRC), and parasitic extraction for a variety of superconducting circuits. The right candidate will be comfortable in a dynamic environment with rapidly developing technologies and tools. The candidate must have an interest in gaining experience in custom circuit design using Cadence Virtuoso. Experience with modeling circuit performance using Spice tools or ADE/Spectre, and/or experience with EM software such as HFSS, Momentum, Clarity or CST is highly desirable. Familiarity with quantum information is a plus. The candidate will take a design from concept through modeling, layout and verification and create a test plan based on circuit requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.

This position may be filled as an Associate Circuit Design Engineer or a Circuit Design Engineer

Basic Qualifications for Associate IC Design Engineer:

  • BS degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 0 years of experience
  • Understanding of circuit design theory
  • Basic understanding of IC manufacturing and testing processes
  • Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications for IC Design Engineer:

  • BS degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 2 years of experience; or Master’s degree in a STEM field with 0 years of experience
  • Understanding of circuit design theory
  • Basic understanding of IC manufacturing and testing processes
  • Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant Undergrad/Graduate level courses
  • Hardware design experience in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • Experience with hierarchical design, top-level floor-planning, and chip-level integration
  • Create and maintain chip design schedule, and meet tight deadlines in accordance with the overall program schedule
  • Experience with product validation and testing
  • Microwave engineering background; solid understanding of transmission line theory and impedance matching techniques
  • Electromagnetic modeling background with commercial tools, such as HFSS, CST, Clarity
  • Understanding of combinatorial and sequential logic
  • Programming experience using an objected oriented language like Python or C++
  • Scripting experience with SKILL
  • Knowledge of Quantum Information or Quantum Mechanics
  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance

Salary Range: $63,800 USD - $95,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
