Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has openings for Process Engineers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The positions will be located in Clearfield, UT.

The roles will be supporting the B2 Tailpipe, A350, Rolls Royce, or External Protection Material value streams.

The selected candidate will provide critical support to the production environment. Our goal is to minimize downtime on the production line by troubleshooting, problem solving and proactively identifying areas of concern. Our engineers work to continuously improve their processes, eliminating process variation while building in quality.  Join us and help us meet our production goals!

Responsibilities:

  • Support a facility that manufactures external protection material for launch vehicles, assemblies for military aircraft, and large composite structures for commercial aircraft
  • Work closely with manufacturing personnel to tackle production issues in hand layup, automated fiber placement, secondary bonding, autoclave cure, NDI, machining, and assembly processes
  • Author, modify, and audit shop floor planning and procedures
  • Work in a multi-functional team to develop and implement process improvements
  • Performing cause and corrective action activities to permanently eliminate defects
  • Troubleshooting production/tooling/facility issues and implementing improvements and solutions

The ideal candidate enjoys working with individuals across teams, collaborating with Maintenance, Facilities, and Manufacturing team to solve time-sensitive problems. Oftentimes we need to collaborate with other team members, so phenomenal communication skills are appreciated! We are a tight-knit team, and we enjoy working together to reach our mutual goals.

This position is first shift on a 9/80 schedule. The hours are Monday – Thursday on day shift and every other Friday

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 2+ years of relevant work experience, or Masters Degree in a STEM field  
  • Experience with process engineering or manufacturing engineering
  • Microsoft Office experience, specifically with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Solid understanding of root cause / corrective action processes and techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Composites hand layup, fiber placement, bonding, and cure experience
  • Education in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Understanding of Catia V5 and/or NX
  • Experience using SPC to monitor and improve processes
  • Self-Starter that takes initiative to complete tasks and assignments with minimal supervision
  • DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one

Salary Range: $64,600 USD - $97,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
