Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Composite Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals! This position will be located in Clearfield, UT in our Freeport Composite Center (FCC).  The assignment includes operations floor support for all areas including hand layup, fiber placement, cure, assembly and painting of composite parts.  FCC currently produces structures for the F-22, F-35, and other high end related parts.

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting manufacturing processes and will resolve manufacturing issues, support Material Review Board and Corrective Actions, process improvements and generate innovative solutions to problems. Our team provides critical support to the production environment. Our goal is to minimize downtime on the production line by troubleshooting, problem solving and proactively identifying areas of concern. Are you someone who enjoys diverse work assignments? Responsibilities:

·         Support manufacturing of composite structures

·         Resolve production issues in processes by working closely with manufacturing personnel

·         Support root cause and corrective action

·         Author, modify, and audit procedures

·         Be part of an Integrated Product Team

This position is for weekday nights from 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM Mondays thru Thursdays. Support from engineering process owners and other functional departments will be provided on an on call basis. The selected candidate will also be assigned special projects that he or she will own. These projects typically involve improvements to our products.  Travel is estimated to be less than 10%.

 

This role may be filled at the Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Engineer (Level 3) level depending on the qualifications below.

 

Basic Qualifications:

Engineer Manufacturing (Level 2)

·         Bachelor’s in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 2+ years of engineering work experience, or Master’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).

·         Experience with process engineering or manufacturing engineering

·         Microsoft Office experience, specifically with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

·         Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications

·         Proven understanding of root cause & corrective action processes and techniques

·         Ability to pass EMR (Engineering Material Review) test for processing discrepancies

 

Principal Engineer Manufacturing (Level 3)

·         Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5+ years of engineering work experience, or a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of engineering work experience

·         Experience with process engineering or manufacturing engineering

·         Microsoft Office experience, specifically with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

·         Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications

·         Proven understanding of root cause & corrective action processes and techniques

·         Ability to pass EMR (Engineering Material Review) test for processing discrepancies

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

·         Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

·         Composites hand layup, fiber placement, bonding and cure experience

·         Education in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering

·         Able to navigate Catia V5

·         Experience using Statistical Process Controls to monitor and improve processes

·         Able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) clearance for potential future work (clearance not required to start)

Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2):  $64,600.00 - $97,000.00

Principal Engineer (Level 3) Salary Range: $79,700.00 - $119,500.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
