Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Industrial Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the GBSD Ground Base Strategic Deterrent program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You’ll Get To Do: 

The Industrial Engineer will support and lead the deployment and execution planning efforts across the different EMD sites. Experience in high rate production, crew sizing for optimization, analyzing and developing sequence of operations, improving work flow for efficiencies, and methods for maximum utilization of personnel and facilities. Possess knowledge and understanding of master production scheduling, material requirements planning, and manufacturing business systems. Must be able to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities/Skills Requirements:

  • Strong foundation in Industrial Engineering fundamentals 

  • Proficient in the principles of capacity (efficiencies, standards, constraints, etc)

  • Knowledge of manufacturing flows and how they interface with shop floor and Global Supply Chain

  • Experience with project and manufacturing schedules

  • Understanding of schedule waterfall build with setbacks to independent demands

  • Part of the responsibility can include factory and facility layout

  • Experience with cost management (Earned Value, Milestone payments)

  • Engage and collaborate with programs and functional organizations (from individual contributors to executive staff) to obtain, understand, and interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements

  • Work with functional team to understand scheduling requirements at implementation site

  • Document, track and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution

  • Possess strong leadership, organizational, planning and decision making skills and the ability to work as a team member and with other members from different technical backgrounds

  • Effective verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and self-starter

  • Ability to present (PowerPoint, speaking in front of upper management, technical presentations vs overviews)

  • Ability to visualize and layout routings (Flow chart, Excel, etc)

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s; or 0 years with PhD. 

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain an interim Secret Security level clearance pre-start, with the ability to obtain a final Secret Security level clearance post-start

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

  • Active DoD security clearance

  • Knowledge of SAP MRP, AutoCAD and Plant Sim

  • Experience within the concrete and/or construction industry is a plus

  • Familiar with using AutoCAD or a similar tool

  • Experience developing system hardware build-out and deployment planning is a plus

Salary Range: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
