Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr Staff Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the GBSD Ground Base Strategic Deterrent program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You’ll Get To Do:
As a member of the Sentinel Manufacturing Technology Development team, you will define, develop, implement, and transition new technology solutions to manufacturing to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and improve quality.
Manufacturing concept and process solutions for production applications cover advanced technologies including but not limited to automation, point of use work instructions, industrial internet of things (IIoT), data analytics solutions for manufacturing processes.
The role will manage a portfolio of manufacturing technology related projects. The selected candidate will ensure incorporation of requirements into development plans and evaluation of performance of processes and tools to verify their efficiency. In addition, you will identify and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure R&D contractual obligations (technical, schedule, and cost) are met and product quality is maintained. In this role, you will provide guidance regarding design concepts, TRL/MRL maturity, and specification requirements to best utilize resources and manufacturing techniques, and ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
This role involves interfacing with internal and external customers, program offices, product segment teams, engineering disciplines, and executive management. In addition, the role will require the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently in a dynamic/fast-paced work environment. Budgeting and Project Management skills will be utilized to properly scope and execute assigned work and manage project efforts.
As a member of our team, you will be involved with all aspects of the Manufacturing Technology Development cycle which include:
Act as Cost Account Manager (CAM) responsible for individual project cost & budget execution.
Manage portfolios of projects with similar technologies.
Provide leadership/direction to ensure technology initiatives and opportunities for process improvements are systematically identified, pursued, and supported.
Develop architectures and concepts for advanced digital technologies with a focus on implementation within Northrop Grumman
Interact with customers (internal and external)
Reach out and work with colleges, universities, government, and suppliers as part of development and improvement projects
Introduce and develop new technologies for the manufacturing floor
Lead projects consisting of cross functional teams of high performing engineers developing advanced systems designs and concepts.
Provide technical leadership and oversight to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative Engineering solutions
Apply new technologies as well as common designs and products enabling rapid development, prototyping and affordable solutions

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM, with a minimum of 14 years of experience. Four additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain an interim Secret Security level clearance pre-start, with the ability to obtain a final Secret Security level clearance post-start
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience in a fabrication and/or assembly manufacturing environment
Creation of industry whitepapers
Manage multiple projects concurrently in meeting customer requirements/expectations scheduling, budget tracking)
Experience in hardware/software integration of manufacturing systems
Experience with production assembly/fabrication including Digital Transformation, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, Systems Integration, IIoT, RFID, and/or production manufacturing operations
Extensive experience configuring Edge Devices (Experience in the development, capture, and execution of R&D technology capabilities. Assessing maturity of new technology for transition to production
Experience with authoring proposals, technical documents, and procedures
Experience with ROI analysis and justifications
