Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the GBSD Ground Base Strategic Deterrent program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You’ll Get To Do: 

The Manufacturing Plan is used by the Operations organizations personnel as the tool for developing all elements of the Produce Product Package. The elements of the Manufacturing Plan will enable the accuracy and completeness of the execution and risk mitigation phases of the program. The Manufacturing Plan will also serve as an instrument to ensure that ‘best manufacturing processes” are utilized. These Manufacturing Plans will facilitate our ability to achieve manufacturing process commonality and synergy throughout the Division. Manufacturing Plans are an integral part of the Program Concept of Operations and will reflect all program execution elements necessary for the Operations Department to execute the program.

Some of the day-to-day things you’ll do:

  • Manufacturing Engineering Statement of Work (MESOW) coordination

  • Tooling Statement of Work (TSOW) coordination

  • Systems Test Statement of Work (STSOW) coordination

  • Automation Plan

  • Initial Manpower Plan and Skill Requirements

  • Initial Program Master Schedule (Top Level)

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Systems Baseline

  • Technology Transition to Production Plan

  • Identify enabling technologies

  • Identify unique contract requirements

  • Progress reporting for Earned Value input

  • Core Competency Analysis and Trade Studies

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan

  • Budget Impact Analysis

  • Outsourcing Plan

  • Identify unique contract requirements

  • Production Readiness Review

  • Lessons Learned

  • Executive Dashboards & Presentations

  • Performance Based Standards for touch labor tasks

  • Ergonomics Analysis and Risks

  • Safety Analysis and Risks

  • Key Characteristic Plan

  • Baseline Manufacturing Process Performance Plan

  • Assembly Flow Simulation Models

  • Assembly Plan Animated 3D Computer Model

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree with a minimum of 14 years of experience or 12 years of experience with a relevant Masters; 9 years with a PhD in an aerospace or missile experience. Manufacturing Science/ManTech role or equivalent.

  • Must have US Citizenship with an Active DoD Secret Clearance that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • ·Active Top Secret Security Clearance


Salary Range: $126,100 USD - $189,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
