Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the GBSD Ground Base Strategic Deterrent program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You’ll Get To Do: 

Seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a unique skill set that includes a hands-on approach and can act as a technical representative for the Manufacturing organization; a problem solver who can provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.  
This role will support Manufacturing by aligning processes, consumables and tools to support assembly of large structures, rework, repairs, work instructions and shop aids. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Interpreting customer and engineering furnished drawings and specifications, authoring work instructions for fabrication, working closely with program office, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, training, and operations to solve production high driver defects. The selected candidate will be identified as a subject matter expert and provide manufacturing support to multiple programs.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s (STEM) Degree with 14 years’ experience in production assembly/fabrication or production manufacturing operations; OR a master’s degree with 12 years’ experience in production assembly/fabrication or production manufacturing operations; OR a PhD with 9 years’ experience in production assembly/fabrication or production manufacturing operations

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain an interim Secret Security level clearance pre-start, with the ability to obtain a final Secret Security level clearance post-start.

  • Manufacturing Processes knowledge (i.e., assembly, shimming, systems installation, drilling, countersinking, repairs, curing, bagging, Cabling & Pinning, Electrostatic Discharge)

  • Must have demonstrated experience with consumables and Tool ordering, control, calibration, repair and replacement.

 

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Visual Work Instructions (VWI), Material Review Board (MRB)

  • Experience in working with Aerospace/ Space Processes and Procedures (SPP).

  • Experience creating/maintaining Process Work Instructions (PWI’s)

  • Experience creating/maintaining Approved Support Materials (ASMs)

  • Experience working with Third Party Manufacturing Consumables

  • Production Foreign Object Elimination /Foreign Object Detection (FOE/FOD) mitigation & processes.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)

Salary Range: $126,100 USD - $189,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
