Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division Engineering and Manufacturing team.  This leadership role will be located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and will provide enabling support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio.  Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

What You’ll Get To Do: 

The selected candidate supports the use of the SDS Engineering Tool Suite to enabled horizontal collaboration from a Manufacturing Engineering perspective. Candidate must have background in performing manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. The selected candidate will use experiences in manufacturing to apply it to best practices in Manufacturing Systems to create efficiencies and connection of the digital thread. The selected candidate will facilitate training in core systems and skill areas to teams and peers and interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.

Applicants are generally experienced in one or more areas of manufacturing operations. This applicant will be a Subject Matter Expert in manufacturing systems such as CPLM/TcMfg, SAP/ERP, and SmartMES.  Applicant will analyze, evaluate, tests and provide requirements for improvements to enterprise-wide purchased systems such as CPLM/TcMfg, SAP/ERP and SmartMES. Plans/Prepares application system specifications, implements, and coordinates system upgrades, enhancements or maintenance. Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior. Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and effect the image of the organization technological capability. Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

Duties Include:

•    Develop, maintain, teach, and enforce process and procedures for Manufacturing Engineering and Production in core tools, CPLM/TcMfg. SAP/ERP, and MES systems. 
•    Coordination with all teams to utilize SAP Material Resource Planning (MRP) effectively. 
•    Enforce core system best practices to enable effective downstream use. 
•    Lead a team of Subject Matter Experts through testing of the PLM/ERP/MES Systems and its integrations with other systems.
•    Lead implementation of new Business Processes related to PLM/ERP/MES and its integrated systems.
•    Support Manufacturing Operations in Produce Product Package (PPP) creation and delivery. 
•    Test PLM/ERP/MES when new development is released, and to troubleshoot issues programs are seeing. 
•    Evaluate current process and procedures to enhance and automate. 
•    Develop Level 1 support team with in the IPTs.
•    Create training and desktop instructions for best practices. 
•    Assist in Proposal activity of new task orders and programs to utilize Production Systems. 
•    Assist in stand up of new programs and task orders when using SDS Production System Architecture"

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology Engineering or Math) with 14+ years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 12+ years of relevant work experience; PhD with 9+ years of experience.

  • Must have US Citizenship with an Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Experience working in a digital manufacturing environment using core systems PLM/ERP/MES is a must. 

  • Strong background with SAP Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Grouping, Pegging, and Distribution (GPD), Production Orders, Purchase Orders (GPD), and Inventory Functionality

  •  Experience in a manufacturing setting

  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency

  • Experience in the performance of system integration testing

  • Experience writing functional specifications

  • Flexible work schedule to support out of service system testing. 

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Highly motivated self-starter, detail and quality oriented, and able to work independently

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Experience in Teamcenter Manufacturing (TcMfg)

  • Experience in CPLM

  • Experience in SmartMES

  • Experience with database analysis

  • Experience in the creation of test plans

  • Experience in the performance of system integration testing

  • Experience writing functional specifications

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams

This position reports to Roy, UT, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Huntsville, AL, AL, USA.


Salary Range: $126,100 USD - $199,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
